    Attacking..

1d8+3. Damage bonuses apply regardless of whether there's an ability score involved.

Two-handed weapons -- nerfed, or am I missing something?

It's the Hammer Rhythm paragon feat. Str 15, Con 17, if you miss with a hammer or mace and wouldn't ordinarily deal damage on a miss, you deal your Con mod in damage. It doesn't stack with Reaping Strike.

D&D 4E Obligatory dump stats in 4e: the irrelevance of Intelligence

Not necessarily true. A javelin has an impressive 10/20 range and is Heavy Thrown. Str is all you need there.

    Sample Character request: Warrior/Mage

Can someone with the books confirm or deny this? I'm not sure whether WotST only lets you mimic an implement you have mastery with, and whether Arcane Initiate gives you Implement Mastery.

D&D 4E Obligatory dump stats in 4e: the irrelevance of Intelligence

I would actually suggest a warlord instead of a fighter for that archetype--anyone who spends as much time in combat "telling people stuff" is very warlord-like. But yeah, it looks like History is the only "knowledge" skill you can pick up as a class skill--although a 3e fighter would have been...

Something like that. Post in the Tavern and someone will help you out.

    An Example Character, Levels 1-30

Click on the link in my sig; we'd be happy to have some volunteers for playtesting our upcoming 4e rules.

D&D 4E Obligatory dump stats in 4e: the irrelevance of Intelligence

Monsters get half their level to initiative too. +3 vs. +5 is exactly the same as +18 vs. +20 in that context.

Will magic implements + magic weapons make high level multiclassing unfeasible?

All right, fine. Say the concept is an eladrin army officer, an experienced commander, who is also trained in the arcane traditions of his people as part of his "breadth"-based education. Or a half-elf warrior-champion of Asmodeus, able to smite with his blade or call down power from Hell...

Rules Question - power damage and feats

Both of the sample dwarf fighters fail to do this. Kathra, for example, does 3d10+5 damage (3[W]+3(Str)+2(Feat)); it would be 3d10+9 if the feat went inside the brackets.

Will magic implements + magic weapons make high level multiclassing unfeasible?

Better to swap out your weapon, IMO, unless it's more important to make AoOs than gain a defense bonus and be able to draw the weapon for free next round. What if you're none of those? Like a half-elf paladin/warlock, or an eladrin warlord/wizard? Those should be viable as well. Is there any...

D&D 4E Is it just me, or do damaging effects suck in 4E?

Nope--you roll one attack roll per creature, but one damage roll total. So a grand total of 122 rolls.

    Sample Character request: Warrior/Mage

@Jack99: Tide of Iron requires a shield. Question for those who have the books: Do implements have to be class-specific? E.g. if you're a wizard/warlock, do you have to use wands, or could you use an orb for your warlock spells? I have two ideas for a warrior/wizard in mind. One is a...

What is the point of implements?

Except that multiclassing doesn't get you Implement Mastery.

    Core Handbook Errors Discussion

[ts] is pre-print jargon for the multiplication symbol. So it means 1d6 times your Wis. Also think of it like Careful Attack: you get an additional chance to land one attack, and thus add your Hunter's Quarry damage. Between getting +4 to one attack or getting two attacks, I'll take the latter.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Immobilized != unable to act. It means you can't move, but you can still attack, teleport, use any powers that don't involve moving, etc.

I also have the books [merged] (info on upcomming Power sources and more)

True, but if you're using a vorpal falchion with a power that does 7[W], you're looking at an extra 9 damage or so--plus the sheer visceral factor of getting to roll more d4's than most players even own (I know I'd have to buy some more).

Table of ability scores for each PHB race, MM race, and class

They're a little weaker than they look on paper, because 2 of their racial abilities depend on Con, which increases their MAD in most cases.

    Minions and Temporary HPs

After reading this long-winded argument, I'm still going with my original plan: If a minion gets temp. HP, I'm going to stick an Alea Tool under them to represent it. If they take damage <= their HP total, I remove the tool and they go back to having 1 HP. It's not difficult.
