How do you like your gnomes best?

I know this is more of a Dwarf comment then a Gnome comment but...has anyone seen or played Lineage II. The female Dwarves sorta look like cute anime girls but still sport mighty huge axes and other weapons. I love that idea. lol

    A multitude of disliked races

Ah yes, reading everyone else's posts I realize I forgot to include some other races available in my main world... Centaurs Half-Dragon (Called Dragonkin) Half-Fae (Changelings) Hengiyoki Kenku Lizardfolk Probably a few more. Not enough sleep before responding :heh: Of Elves there are...

    A multitude of disliked races

This is a very cool concept and reminds me a lot of one of my favorite rpgs, Wares Blade. Wares Blade is a Japanese tabletop (or tabletalk as they sometimes call them) rpg in which all things are related to 'Gates' or spheres of magic and nature. Dragons are of the Fire Gate, Elves are usually...

    A multitude of disliked races

Interesting. What is the reason behind having this as a seperate race? As opposed to all those nancy Psionic Snake Folk?

    A multitude of disliked races

So in the recent slew of threads on Elves and how you like your other fantasy humanoids, I've noticed a lot of people not liking a lot of races. So, what can your players be? Does anyone run a humans only campaign? If not, who or what populates your world? My main campaign world operates on the...

Do you use D&D XP system as written?

I think my players would also flip. We simply don't get the chance to play enough and since I'm awarding for creativity and story not so much combat, the players would eventually feel that using there heads so much just wasn't worth it and better to go play WoW, lol. My players probably raise...

How do you like your gnomes best?

Once again I have a mix depending on my campaign world. Main world- Eberron- like with a little OD&D. Dwarves are my tinkerers In yet another world they are as Tonguez mentioned, tiny, forest-dwelling fae similar to their depiction in the famous story/art book GNOMES. There culture is...

How do you like your halflings best?

Without going into details, Halflings are Kender like in there rebellious youth, until they learn lifes leasons and retire to be more like Hobbits.

Would you use the same setting for your next campaign?

Tough call. With this being my 30th anniversary gaming I'm really excited to run something special. My preference would be Star Trek, a universe I never get tired of exploring (and adding too :D ) or a return to my classic homebrew D&D world. So if the question is, more clearly worded, "Would...

Do you use D&D XP system as written?

When I play D&D, which is rare these days, I use a completely different system for xp. I have a chart that lists XP amounts next to things like "Creative Problem Solving", "Cooperation with Other PCs", "Defeat/Capture Superior Opponent" or "Plot Point Revealed". The next column is for noting the...

What percentage of your RPG time are you DMing?

I GM 100% of the time. I have for the last 25+ years. I guess I should say 99.9% of the time. There is the occaisional odd one-shot or pick up game.

Who has picked up "Dragon: Monster Ecologies"?

OK, let's see if I can get rules-lawyer-Trekkie-trivia specific...bare with me as I'm not good at 'letter of the law' style explanations when discussing fantasy...I am not a fan of buying and using material for my campaign universe/background that defines the abilities, habits and weaknesses of...

Who has picked up "Dragon: Monster Ecologies"?

It's just a personal preference. The question was who picked up this book. My answer is I can't decide if I should get it. While fun to read, it will not, as you say, "have anything to do with my campaign". Oddly, over the last few days, I've been in several threads where someone asks you your...

Does D&D even have a component of "midieval" anymore?

In my major campaign world, it definitely started out as medieval high fantasy but over time it changed considerably. Advances in magic and engineering eventualy (over hundreds of years) created a printing press, light spell street lamps and flying boats (though extremely rare and difficult to...

Does D&D even have a component of "midieval" anymore?

Good point. I mean, 'Magic Missile', 'Dimension Door', 'Prismatic Sphere'...how many 11th century people, even sages and wisemen, went around saying things like Prismatic? I was always surprised by how technical and scientific everything in D&D sounds. Even the names of some monsters and their...

Does D&D even have a component of "midieval" anymore?

While D&D is still very much medieval in my opinion, most of the current art would beg to differ. Then there's Eberon but don't get me started on that. :p

How do you like your elves best?

I'd have to go teriyaki style since I don't see my Elves exactly. I would need one part Arcane, two parts fae and one part warrior-philosophers. At least that would define the largest Elven groups. For Wood Elves substitute artist/craftsman-philosophers for warrior-philosophers.

    Elves Are Not Doomed!

You got it Someone! It's all about how you define your own view of them. My Elves are neither inept pacifists, nor Humans with a twist, though they are closer to the latter. Their long history and otherworldly origins give them a culture and perspective not Human could have. As a result they are...
