D&D 5E (2014) How would you rule on this Dispell Magic?

My understanding is they were already in combat and going by turns. Initiative had already been rolled. We were not told of the wizard moving.

D&D 5E (2014) How would you rule on this Dispell Magic?

Then if that was the case, the original question was moot. They could not cast Dispel Magic so why worry about what happens?

D&D 5E (2014) How would you rule on this Dispell Magic?

If there is no clear path then you cannot target it.

D&D 5E (2014) How would you rule on this Dispell Magic?

Sidesteping the whole hide argument, I think the Dispel Magic should work. The spell can target a magical effect. If they caster said they were trying to dispel what was making the wand fly, that is the effect they are targetting. I do not think it would matter if that was fly, levitate...

    D&D 5E (2014) Removing the bonus action - analysis

So what I am seeing would allow our cleric to get his main polearm attack, butt-end attack, cast healing word, and use his spiritual weapon attack, all on the same turn? Mighty big buff.

D&D 5E (2014) Attack rolls vs ability checks for invisible/prone opponents

I think shoving away from prone position would not be at disadvantage, both by rule and logic. If a person is prone, they can push away using their legs, which is stronger than arms. It would also seem reasonable to me that they could do some sort of scissor move to take an opponent prone. So...

D&D 5E (2014) Three level 7 PCs vs a Roc in an open field...

If they do make such rulings, they need to understand that is making the combats harder and make adjustments to balance it. That was the point of my original post, that there should be some complisation for the nerfing of expected abilities. A DM could also make a logical ruling that daggers...

D&D 5E (2014) Three level 7 PCs vs a Roc in an open field...

I think powers should work as they are described. It is not a realistic game, you are already fine with a bird big enough to carry an elephant, what is so odd about using ki to stun it? If you start going down the path of what really works, the game falls apart.

D&D 5E (2014) Three level 7 PCs vs a Roc in an open field...

Are you doing anything to compensate for the added benefits you are giving the Roc? You are making it immune to trip attacks, stunning, and fear.

    D&D 5E (2014) Can Objects Be Hidden?

What if you animated an object, commanded it to hide itself, then let the spell end?

    D&D 5E (2014) [Homebrew] Greater Produce Flame

The Toggle Torch seems like a much better way to go. I think Clayton is underestimating how much requiring the bonus action gimps the spell. That means that it cannot be used the same round as bonus action spells such as shillelagh, healing word, misty step, etc. It cannot be used with...

D&D 5E (2014) Can Tavern Brawler use cards as Improvised Weapons?

Why would they even bother using playing cards? Wouldn't be cheaper to just throw copper coins? If you go with the standard 50 coins to a pound, they are even more massive than cards.

D&D 5E (2014) Magic Missile vs. Mirror Image

Apparently it can discern some sort of difference, as Magic Missle as written cannot be used to target a rock. There must be something special that seperates it from using a bow as it specifies that it will only target creatures.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Explores Downtime Activities

Why do so many seem to think carousing needs to include getting blind drunk? How can I play my tea-totaler bard who just loves to go out singing and dancing?

D&D 5E (2014) Light Spell on a stick and then breaking it into two limbs?

I can see a more common use if allowed: chalk. If you allow it to still light up, you can have glowing marks all the length of the dungeon. Even better if each mark now gives off the full light radius. It is like drawing a torch on the wall wherever you want.

    D&D 5E (2014) O Plate Mail, Where art Thou?

At level 7 your wizard buddy can whip you up a suit of Plate in 10 minutes (if he has the tool proficiency) using Fabricate.

    D&D 5E (2014) Applying Poison?

Mearls never says why, so he didn't really answer my question. I did not say that they must be milked, I asked why one would say it was abusing/upsetting the snake to do so. A fair DM could simply say that they think it would unbalance the game to allow that amount of free poison. It is...

    D&D 5E (2014) Applying Poison?

Why would you assume milking your snake (after talking to it and explaining what you want) is some form of abuse? It is the exact same thing they do every time they attack a creature, just in a bottle. Is it abuse to have them attack a guard? Are they abusing themselves to bite a rat? I...

D&D 5E (2014) Time Tracking in 5E, Concentration, Save at Start or End

I am sorry, but I do not see how you got that. The FIRST time you hit. Not the first time each round, or first each turn. It only functions the first time you hit. Once only. The only benefit of the duration is that it can be held if you missed on your attack.

D&D 5E (2014) Time Tracking in 5E, Concentration, Save at Start or End

Generally, there is no reason. It is a bonus action spell, meaning you can cast it and still take an attack action on the same turn. Why did you say that the paladin was going to forget because he had to wait until the next turn to attack?
