Ancient Question: How to handle surrendering monsters....

An oath that they could and would likley swiftly break? And even if they kept their word, which is usually worthless, they would become another area's problem. Even a Geas's damage would not be enough to keep the giants to their word. Sadly there isn't much in the default D&D setting that really...

    D&D 5E (2014) Multiclassing...AGAIN?

The primary benefit of character levels is forcing PCs to have adequate servings of Defense, Offence and Utility. Flexibility lets PCs eat around their vejitables and build lopsided characters unless the player is system savvy enough to recognize the imbalance potential and avoid glass cannons...

Pathfinder 1E Deadliest energy or attack type in the rules

You want cheating? Hold Person cast on a foe when your ally is about to act and is within CDG reach.

Pathfinder 1E Stabbing eyes, slicing off hands, and fun stuff like that

I'd say keep it simple and don't let it bypass positive HP, which exist to prevent crippling injury. Finishing strike: Take -4 to hit and describe what limb you want to sever or break. If the attack's damage takes the foe to 0 or fewer HP, you succeed, otherwise the attack only inflicts damage...

Gamescience dice are very much worth it.

I bought the zocchihedron years ago. Fantastic cat toy. Even taking what Zocci said in the video with a grain of salt, two layers of paint and multiple goes in a rock tumbler sure sound like a recipe for biased dice. My only beef is that I find it hard to believe a piece of sprue left on the...

fill with wax crayon. That is how very early D&D dice were shaded.

    Running royal courts?

Don't assume Royal Court = Unarmored NPCs. In a violent fantasy setting, the upper echelons of fashion can easily incorporate protective gear. Also aristocrats are assumed to be trained in weapons and armor for good reason, those who originally had those positions earned them. So while I...

More Than Just a Shaggy Ogre

Mistakes Next hopefully corrects. How is it within the rules when the rules are not even final? And IMNSHO an 8' tall critter needs significantly more fighting space than a normal human, justifying a larger base/fighting space. Same here. Whether mine have hooves or feet depends on the species...

Dark Platypus Tentacles & Eyeballs Kickstarter

Tentacles? More likely to break than a normal limb since length = leverage to break the join. Possibly much more likely to break depending on how the sculptor designs the join area. No way to know for certain until the unassembled model is shown. TBH pinning is a good idea for just about any...

Dark Platypus Tentacles & Eyeballs Kickstarter

I'll pass. It looks too likely to get a Cease and Desist letter from Wizards of the Coast. There is a fine line between being inspired by art verses copying art. Not to mention the differences between with fan work for personal use versus for commercial purposes, which this is. IMHO The...

    Cloud Giant Sorcerer build?

Quckened Dim Door and Globe are potent abilities, but taking those off still leaves 25HD worth of giant. I'm thinking 4 negative levels. that would saddle it with... -4 to hit -20 HP -4 to caster level And I'm still not sure if that is enough depending on how well built your PCs are. A lot...

    Poly-Cripple?

If the trauma is greater than would be healed by the polymorph spell, then the Morphed form is just as injured. By the other side's "logic", Polymorph should heal all wounds completely. That is obviously not the case.

    WotC's Yuan-Ti vs. Your Yuan-Ti

Anyone else notice how badly they biased the Poll for the aquatic humaniods? :hmm: I love aquatic monsters, but namedropping Gygax is going to skew the data.

Pathfinder 1E Displacer Serpents and Lightning Bolt

In d20, displacement doesn't change the square you occupy. Bolt connects because it is an area effect. Miss chance works against ranged touch attacks though.

    Cloud Giant Sorcerer build?

For a Caster Giant, MMIII has the supposedly CR 15 Eldritch Giant. It has enough useful magic to be a decent stand in for a actual classed giant caster without spending the time to stat a classed giant caster up. If you don't have the book, WoTC themdselves published a 'Stat Card' With RPG...

    Cloud Giant Sorcerer build?

Look up the rules for associated and non associated class levels. The CR of a giant turned caster is hard to fine tune, but probably isn't 1 level for 1 CR. D&D 3.x looking for best mount magic items 3.5 toril

#1 Remember the paladin's mount is a magical Beast, NOT an animal. So spells or magical objects that specifically work on animals will not be of any use to your mount. For example Horseshoes of Speed These iron shoes come in sets of four like ordinary horseshoes. When affixed to an animal’s...
