Well, in particular question the OP was talking about a PRC ability that expressly lets you learn a divination spell from any spell list, hence the divine spell suggestions. Heh, and frankly, if you're a specialist diviner you'd be well served by researching arcane versions of those two spells...

Absolutely. It didn't affect combat as the NPC was still quite unconscious, but it did affect the rest of the game as the NPC was eventually able to report back about what had taken place.

The spell says you see and hear the creature. *shrug* I'd say it all sort of boils down to how they're hiding. Besides, even if you can't see them exactly, the spell's visual range is centered on them so you know where they are... smack in the middle of where the sensor is looking.

This is another of those areas where the ambiguity really doesn't help. The spell seems mostly to affect magical restrictions of your mobility. Paralysis, ghoul touch, and slow are mentioned. But would it work against, say a Web or Entangle spell? What about a Hold Monster? Held and...
