    battle simulation software?

Combat Management Nothing specifically designed for that but I'd think you could use any of the combat management programs to do it (DM's Familiar, Roleplaying Master, DM Genie). DM's Familiar is mine so I'll talk about that: You can setup PCs/Monsters easily and then put them on the combat...

    Online RPGS?

See the Klooge/ScreenMonkey/Fantasy Grounds discussion here.

Seeking reviews or comparisons of: Fantasy Grounds, kLoOge.Werks and Screenmonkey

Neither klooge nor Fantasy Grounds includes voice chat with it. You either type your chat or you run a second program for voice (I use klooge with Ventrilo).

RPG Information Organization - Software Request

You can do that with my program, DM's Familiar. It has a Reference Library where spells, creatures, rules, feats, skills, etc. can all be entered. Located the information is quick and easy. There's also an advanced search to find information in different ways (Give me all CR 3 to 5 creatures...

Seeking reviews or comparisons of: Fantasy Grounds, kLoOge.Werks and Screenmonkey

Klooge Vs. FG Forgot one other thing: FG only runs on Windows. Klooge runs on Windows, Mac, Linux.

Seeking reviews or comparisons of: Fantasy Grounds, kLoOge.Werks and Screenmonkey

Comparison I tried ScreenMonkey, Fantasy Grounds, and Klooge about 6 months ago, went with klooge. ScreeenMonkey: Can't remeber any specifics. It wasn't as pretty as Fantasy Grounds nor as capable as Klooge. GhostOrb: DM + every player pays about $5/month. 6 player game is $30/month, $360...

Tools for running D&D over the internet?

I'm using and like Klooge. There's also ScreenMonkey from nBos and GhostOrb.com.

    On-Line Gaming Software for OSX

Skype is a possibility but it's Conference Call feature is limited to 5 total people.

    On-Line Gaming Software for OSX

I haven't found a Mac/PC voice program yet. We're using Teamspeak which excludes one of my players.

    Improved Grab and the -20

This has probably been covered dozens of times but my search didn't find it: "The creature has the option to conduct the grapple normally or simply use the part of the body it used in the improved grab...the later, it takes a -20 penalty" What does "conduct the grapple normally" mean? I'm...

    NPC Generator/Designer

You could do what PCGen did in the early days. They said including all of that information was Fair Use under copyright law since it uses so little of the information. PCGen was never asked to cease & desist.

    Spring Attach Vs. Reach

Does Spring Attack protect you a creature with reach? Reading Spring Attack, it would seem that way. It just seems awful powerful that the spring attack can negate the ability of a creature.

    On-Line Gaming Software for OSX

Kloogewerks runs on Macs and PCs. The DM has to buy his DM copy. You then have to have licenses for the players - the DM can buy these or the players can. The software is not rules specific, it can run any type of game. Playing with chat can be agonizingly slow but playing with a separate voice...

    Tie on Trip, Who Wins?

PC hits monster for his trip attack. For the "Str Vs. Str" (or the Str Vs. Dex) roll, you get a tie. What happens - monster is tripped or not?

DMing an online, real time DnD game. What do I need?

I use klooge.werks for the dice and mapping with Ventrilo for the voice chat. Typing chat is just too darn slow. There's also OpenRpg which is free and GhostOrb (not really sure if they are up and running yet) as well.

What is the best (most effecient) way to use a laptop while DMing

The thread is titled "what is the best (most efficient) way to use a laptop". Whether you like the idea of the laptop rolling dice for you doesn't matter. There's little arguing that that is the most efficient - the greatest speed up of play - that the laptop can provide.

Can anyone please recommend a good level 12-13 adventure? *My players stay out*

Checking The Wyrm's Hoard you'll find a long list of adventures at the 12-13 range. Headless is a good creepy adventure. Heart of the Iron God is good but a bit hard to drop in some campaigns. Maure Castle is awesome but really more for 14th level characters.

    Battle Program

There's no program out there that is going to handle 500+ combatants for an online game. I'm wondering why you're going to do it that way rather than using some mass battle rules (Cry Havoc from Malhavoc being my favorite) to keep things more manageable?

    Monster program

I'm no expert on those two (where's kingpaul pimping PCGen when you need him? :) ), but I think that's incorrect. Both programs well let you start with a monster or a race, and then templates and character classes. After all, there's really no difference between a "monster" and a "character"...
