    D&D 3.x Will you still play 3.5?

I might still buy some 3.5 material, but I haven't run 3.5 since Arcana Evolved came out. It's been Iron Heroes, Evolved, True 20, Saga, or Weapons of the Gods since 2005.

D&D 4E Raiders of Oakhurst: A 4E Fan Playtest Adventure

I ran it this weekend for a friend's 30th birthday party. Here's the quick breakdown of player reactions: 1 Super Experienced Player: Went with the Wizard. Complained about some of the usual things - too much like World of Warcraft, don't like grids and minis, and so forth. Conversely...

D&D 4E Dave Noonan on his 4e Playtest

I'd just assume that if you two rooms close enough that the guys from one can reinforce the other in under a minute then you need to build both rooms as a single running encounter. Maybe with a little bit of extra padding for the time lag, but I certainly wouldn't assume, in the wake of running...

How many spells each day and each encounter do we truly get?

Well, there are limits per round. So it's perfectly possible for an encounter to end before you get the chance to use up all of your spells regardless of whether you wanted to use them or not. Alternately, you could die before you use them too.

D&D 3.x 4E Simulationism: Did 3.5E Really Do That Good of a Job?

I think the moment you go grid simulationist play is working in an increasingly hostile environment. But the essence of the play style seems to be grudging compromise regardless, so I'm certain that accomodations will be made and by the time we hit 5E this happy argument will be occuring all...

    D&D 4E 4e Island

Well, my campaign isn't so old or storied. Or rather the world for the campaign isn't. My basic strategy has been similar to FR's. It's a good long time in the future. Two Empires have fallen since I last detailed the setting. Technology and education have changed a great deal. The setting...

    Upcoming Classes Speculation

Two things: First, the Elementalist has been mentioned as a class in at least R & C. Second, with regards to the Monk=Controller crowd: A Controller is not someone who manipulates the battlefield - necessarilly. Rather a Controller is someone who must easilly be able to hit lots of guys with...

D&D 4E 4E: The day the game ate the roleplayer?

Just as a specific point: There are several Jedi Force Powers with non-combat utility, mind trick comes to mind, as well as several non-combat Jedi Talents. And I believe there are specific lightsaber talents for cutting some dudes arm off.

D&D 4E Everything you Need to Demo 4E but Dice

I believe Slowed reduces you to 2 squares of movement.

    Paladin Divine Challenge Fixed

I like that, it's complicated but honestly pretty interesting. Even has the added benefit of giving the Fighter and Paladin added differentiation since the Fighter Mark power has no sustain cost.

Warlock's Curse, Fey Pact and a Bag o'Rats...

I don't know it still seems a little modernist. It's when we get to the point that that the Gamists have decided to 'take back' the term and make Gamist Pride t-shirts that well have really hit the postmodernist wall at full speed.

    Implementation of Long-Term Damage

This would be what I would apply as well. The only significant issue being that Star Wars has lots of ways to engage the Condition system and 4E does not. Though I wouldn't be surprised to find suggestions for these type of systems or something similar but rarer - unusual poisons, diseases...

    Warlock's Curse / Hunter's Quarry

    That's nice actually, thank-you.

    Gritty gone?

I think a condition track ala SAGA would do a lot to add a gritty feel. Deadly isn't gritty, per se. Potentially deadly standoffs are gritty, persistent wounds are gritty, pain is gritty, and so forth. But most gritty characters manage to stay around for a while even with fighting. So I think...

D&D 4E 4e: You Are Dead to Me

    D&D 4E I have seen the coming of 4e...

I'm fairly certain I've played other games where you can spend an action to heal yourself. At the least there's DnD with potions, Lay on Hands, and various other powers. Most SF games I've played will have something like medpacs. And I recall some modern games with second wind type mechanics...

    Ranger powers- is this correct?

The Ranger does have the limitation that he can only quarry mark the nearest enemy. Rogues, otoh, can hit anyone with sneak attack who they have combat advantage against. And there appears to be no range limitation on the new sneak attack. So crossbow at 1d10+4+2d6, Rogue gets initiative, and...

    Paladin. Disappointing

So this is an odd question, but... Has anyone figured out from the Halfling Paladin what exactly 'short' does in the new edition?

    Paladin. Disappointing

Does anyone else think the Paladin's AC seems too low? He's got Plate Mail, a heavy shield, +1 dex, and small size going for him, but... The Dwarven fighter with Scale, a heavy shield, and +1 dex has only got 19 to his 20.
