    Warden Build Suggestions

Only if the effect of the interrupting action would prevent his attack from working somehow. Eg. it pushes him out of melee range, gives him an attack penalty or your ally a defense bonus that would make his attack miss, or (everyone's favorite) renders him unconscious or dead. It's just a...

Best use of rituals you have seen so far?

Here's an idea to deal with the ritual casting time issue: suppose that some rituals didn't have to be cast all at once. Sort of like the 'stop here' markers on some of the recipes in The I Hate To Cook Cookbook, if you've ever read that, where you could pause in the middle and then finish the...

    Brainstorming on Spell LEVEL fixes

Well, we have some extra flexibility in metamagic costs as well, with more spell levels to work with. If a Stilled or Extended Spell still only costs +1 level to prepare, then we've already increased the power of that metamagic feat. It should probably be +2 levels now, since we have over twice...

How is the Wizard vs Warrior Balance Problem Handled in Fantasy Literature?

There are certainly some authors who take the wizards seriously. I'm in the midst of re-reading Jordan's Wheel of Time series, and I can't help but notice the even the weaker Aes Sedai (who have all sworn oaths not to use magic as a weapon except in defense of their lives) tend to be pretty much...

Would you prefer it if your partner said you were a great GM, or great in bed?

Dear Gary: Ever since my wife joined my campaign, she's constantly comparing my refereeing style to that of her previous DMs. Especially the DM of the first campaign she ever played in; she's always telling me how he would have ruled differently, or how clever and detailed his campaign world...

    OD&D 1st Print OD&D Woodgrain - Rare Variant

Cool site. Now I know that I had a 4th printing of the Holmes blue-box basic set. Which is worth about what my uncle paid for it in 1979. :p

    1st Edition Suggestions

I've never seen it for clerics & druids, but it's SOP for magic-users and illusionists. (DMG pg. 39.)

Random Question - Creatures with powers that resist the prone effect?

My party did this to a solo yesterday ... Assuming Shadowslayer's problem is the same one I saw--it's not so much a mechanics issue, as just one of a rather dull combat. When the solo can move around, it can catch more of the party in close blasts, or zip out and smack ranged strikers or...

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Whip feats?

I was responding to bobhayes, who suggested Combat Reflexes--that's what I was naysaying. Obviously, you need Combat Expertise to qualify for both Improved Trip and Improved Disarm, both very handy feats for a whip-wielder. (And Combat Expertise is actually pretty underrated itself, for that...

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Whip feats?

Combat Reflexes is useless, actually, since you don't threaten (even adjacent enemies!) with a whip. Improved Disarm is handy if your campaign is humanoid-heavy.

    Please rate Lightning Fists

Wow. I'd like to thank Sorrowdusk for giving me XP for one of posts in this thread earlier this month. Eight and a half years after the post. :erm: Sometimes, it's nice to see where you've come from ...

Belkar just doesn't know when to let it go, does he? Unless the answer is 'never', in which case he's doing just fine.

    Most AWESOME character moment EVER!

Relative to the character? Probably the nice combo move pulled by my jaebrin bard in D&D 3.5. Party was facing a #2 sub-boss, guarding the corridor leading to the boss that we were after. Hulking fighter-type, making some pretty cool flash moves with her weapon as we approached--obviously a...

    Oots #751 (?!)

Tree Is Within 10' Radius of Apple I'm not sure which is more shocking--Rich posting updates on consecutive days, or me being the first to link to both of them on the ENWorld boards.

    OotS #750 is up!

Making Up For Lost Time. I'm guessing that Elan speaks for the whole team. Except probably for Roy.

2 Boxes Lords of Madness in the mail today

Yeah, I got one of those in the box I picked up today, and I was very disappointed in the paint job on it. The rest of the minis in the box were solid, though; my very favorite of this set was the Zhent Cavalry. My players are going to learn to hate that mini. :)

What "sucks" about ENWorld General Forum....

I was about to ask pawsplay for links, since some posts above indicated that the previews were hard to find, but then I managed to hunt them down myself. Maybe I'm secretly a 12th level internet ranger ... Anyway, in case anyone else has trouble: Lords of Madness Preview 1 Lords of Madness...

    Roll....initiative!!

This is what I do. Another advantage of this is that delays/readys are painless; when a PC or monster takes an action like that, I pull them out of the stack and off to the side. Then, when they take their action I just put their card back on the top of the stack (or on the bottom, if they took...

Looks like fun! Let me try ... Yeesh! [Falls on sword.] [Misses.] [Doesn't even manage to die from falling damage. Paging Dr. Kevorkian!]
