I've read references to such in old Larry Niven stories (the Pierson's Puppeteer apparently owes much of its looks to them), but never seen the original - I always assumed it was a reference to some American kids' TV show. I suspect this is a cultural gap as much as a generational one.

As a side note, in Exalted there's a great earth dragon named "The Kukla" which is currently locked up, because it can eat Creation.

I bet they confused Kukla with Ollie, 'cause Ollie used to eat a bunch of stuff.

I assumed he went with Ollie because of the "allosaurus" reference. They have an allosaurus now, but they used to have an "Ollie-saurus."
