Lend a hand? (Shields, swapping hands, & spellcasting)

Yes and Yes. From the SRD quote it says the hand is free to carry things, though you can't use a weapon, probably as the shield is too heavy to swing it. But casting a spell shoudn't be an issue. Same as above. A Move Equivalent action seems fair, but might unnecesarily complicate things. To...

I see Skip's redefined Polymorph again...

It doesn't get any clearer than this as to why a polymorphed PC's hit points *would* change if their CON increased or decreased as a result. Changing everything (attack bonus, damage bonus, ranged attck bonus, AC, Initiative modifier, Reflex saves, and Fortitude saves) due to altered stats, but...

Has anyone run the entire Dragonlance saga?

I too would like to either run or play through the entire series of modules before I die, but none of my group are DL fans. So there's little chance of me doing either unfortunately. I think that the modules would be vastly improved under V3.5, and if the stats of the characters were redone...

Are there any good cartoon series?

Well all the free-to-air cartoons are complete crap these days. You need paytv if you want anything halfway decent (at least in Australia). I have seen Kim Possible on fta and that's actually not bad, but not something that I would go out of my way to see. What happened to all the...

    Ride by fly by?

I would suggest that you just disregard the PHB FAQ. If you can Overrun as part of normal movement (a move, double move etc), I don't see why you would then discount Charge moves. Overrun, to me, seems most applicable to use while Charging... What a ridiculous ruling.

How many adventures left in Shackled City

That sounds excellent! Thanks Erik for elaborating - I'm looking forward to reading/running it already!

How many adventures left in Shackled City

I hope that this is the case. I'm not a fan of one-night one-shots (or the old Side Treks) - I like adventures that will take multiple sessions for my players to complete. I'm really hoping that the shorter adventures aren't akin to glorified Side Treks. I don't have time to write adventures...

    DUNGEON: A suggestion

I too would like to second Emirikol's comments. Also, I just wanted to ask: What happened to the Monster Tokens? They were fantastic! It was good to get tokens with the nice MM illustrations on them. I would be overjoyed if they made a comeback as they were a valuable addition to my campaign...

Should Dungeon and Polyheadron be in the same magazine

Mate, by saying it that way you sound as though you are representative of *all* Dungeon/Poly consumers. If he's "misguided" at all it's in reference to your personal preference. In fact that statement is, to me, pretty damned rude. As it happens his statements are correct in regards to my...

Do *Players* like to buy magic items?

Absolutely - same situation here. There are much more exciting things to do than waste 5 other peoples time while one person tries desperately to get that item they want commissioned. In a city that is large enough, there is bound to be somebody with the item in question in a magic-rich game...

    Orc Horde Invasion: help/advice needed!

I anticipated that this might pose a problem, and found this article useful into giving a reason why it wouldn't be: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=fr/fx20030115rt It appears that the League is somewhat fractious, and by attacking towns/villages that aren't a part of it, the various...

    Orc Horde Invasion: help/advice needed!

Greetings all, I am planning on running a campaign in the Silver Marches of FR, against the backdrop of an impending invasion by King Obould Many-Arrows. As described in the supplement, day-by-day his throne is less solid beneath him, and soon it will be time for a bold stroke, horde or no...

Hierophant - worth losing spell progression?

I agree completely. Until Complete Divine comes out, the only PrCl of worth from WotC books is the Sacred Exorcist. Put me in the camp of people who wouldn't take Heirophant until level 21+. The comment that clerics without PrCl's are rare surprises me as most of them handicap their abilities...

The talismanic lure of high levels

I agree with all the points Hong raised. Why go to all that trouble when a much more simlistic method is available? One that achieves the same goals? As for low magic - my players got enough of that in 1e/2e when campaigns run by another DM would fizzle at 10th level or so due his dislike of...

    D&D 4th Edition

Ditto! I used to play GW games but got burned on the yearly price hikes. D&D is a lot more complex than any GW product so I'm not sure that targetting the kiddies would work as well for WotC were they to adopt a busines model on the lines of GW. Particularly in miniatures. Credit where it's...

You basically described the Games Workshop business model there, and it appears to have worked well for them.

Laffs: Mike Stackpole on 3E, ca 1999

Just as an aside: I wasn't too thrilled with the DragonCrown War series at all - in fact, I think they were the poorest novels he's published that I have read to date (and I've been a fan of his work since the Warrior series was published). For me, I think his earlier works were much better...

[Fighting Fantasy] Gamebooks -- anyone else?

I sure do - they were my introduction to D&D. When I was 10 I had AU$10 pocket-money and was looking for something to read. I was in the bookstore and was looking at the old Choose your Own Adventure books but the ones on display I had read from the school library. There were some similar ones...

What shows are your "must sees"?

Why weekly "must watch's" are: Alias Angel Scrubs 24 One that I haven't seen mentioned is Hornblower. Since Firefly was axed, I'm not sure if we'll get to see it here in Australia.

Other than LoTR P. Jackson's work blows.

Ah yes the Priest - definitely one of the funniest moments in the movie when he says "I kick arse... for the Lord!" before the actual demonstration. There should be more kung-fu priests... And as I read through the thread I was hoping someone would mention the lawnmower!
