Adventure: A Tale of Two Domains (DM:Luinnar, Judge:renau1g)

Quagmire, pushed to the periphery of the fight, cannot get his legs to move despite his racial hardiness. In desperation he hurls his magical shield at a nearby kobold, but it narrowly misses. He touches the belt at his waist, and feels a surge of vigor, and he forces his legs to move again...

Adventure: A Tale of Two Domains (DM:Luinnar, Judge:renau1g)

Quagmire roars in startled anger, and clubs a neaby goblin with a resounding stroke. The sound invigorates his companions, who feel tougher and more alert. On the backswing he swats the goblin grabbing his leg, easily dislodging it. "Reminds me 'o watchin' the kids at th' cathouse. But they...

Porphyria Donnervale is lurking here still, 6th level sorcerer, though her sheet is in need of an overhaul I think. I have one other character on adventure.

[Adventure]: The Bane of the Black Dragon (DM: Dimsdale, Judge ??)

Oh, hey, it's you guys. ;) Dims' interpretation is reasonable. I might have done it differently (e.g. treat it as a charge attack vs. AC with 4d10 damage on hit, but 4d20 damage to the monk hit or miss, reducible to half with acrobatics). But this is clearly one of those situations where DMs...

Also no theme for Quagmire yet. No ddi, and can't be bothered to figure out which homebrew themes are available right now.

Adventure: A Tale of Two Domains (DM:Luinnar, Judge:renau1g)

"Some kinda phantoms. Apparitions, lookin' like you an' Andras here. Tried t'pull Heavy Metal here in after ye. They vanished when ye climbed back up," Quagmire adds. "Andras, how's th'leg? Can ye walk on it? Think magic will heal it?" Quagmire stares like he's never seen a splint...

    L4W Discussion Thread V

Short version: IMO yes. Long version: I seem to recall the rules being vague on exactly what you're allowed to ready and what kind of trigger you can specify. I assume that, as in so many other cases, the vagueness is deliberate, meaning "work out between players and DM what is appropriate...

Adventure: A Tale of Two Domains (DM:Luinnar, Judge:renau1g)

With an oath, Quagmire leaps forward and grabs onto a protruding piece of Sir Exsixten's armor plating, tugging the warforged away from the edge. Aid another for an athletics check to escape grab, if SirEx opts to do that. Auto-succeeds at +15

Quagmire freezes in place for a second, then, with deliberate casualness, spits on the floor of the cavern. "Don't hardly remember my parents. But this, this I shall not forget." horror check will save succeeds: 1d20+12=27

Quagmire pulls another length of rope out of his pack and hands it to Brenn. I imagine most of us have rope from our level 1 adventurer's kits.

Adventure: A Tale of Two Domains (DM:Luinnar, Judge:renau1g)

"Andras!" Quagmire shouts, rushing to the edge and trying to peer into the mists below. Trying to see if there's any chance of a rescue operation, e.g. by lowering Jax on a rope.

Adventure: A Tale of Two Domains (DM:Luinnar, Judge:renau1g)

Quagmire smiles shakily in relief when he sees Brenn securing a rope to hold onto. "Never did have much balance without a rope t'hold on to," he confesses. He holds onto the rope firmly with both hands as he crosses carefully. Athletics 26, and I'm glad to not have to make acrobatics. :)

Giving out treasure in L4W is kind of hard. I usually try to get people to about the right wealth-by-level. If they're halfway between level 4 and 5, I try to get their wealth to be about halfway between the expected values for level 4 and level 5. I use This chart a lot.

Lauto's hairy balls, no! I don't think anyone here follows every game. I certainly don't. Write whatever fluff you want. If it steps on something canon, we'll let you know. But, as Someone said, we put a fair amount of effort in the design stages of this world to make "canon" very flexible...

Adventure: A Tale of Two Domains (DM:Luinnar, Judge:renau1g)

Quagmire studies the bleak landscape grimly. "Dramatic," he drawls. "Whoever be t'blame fer this place, ain't much they won't do. Best be wary." He hands Sir Exsixten a dried strip of the whatever from the unidentifiable breakfast is most likely to be meat, and continues on.
