    Magic missile too strong?

You can't fire magic missiles through all arrow slits. You need at least a 1 square foot hole to shoot a spell through. If the arrow slit is, for example, 3 feet high and 3 inches across, that wouldn't allow a spell through (except for fireball). I'm also not sure how magic missile is helpful...

    Druids, shafted again?

Is taking Simple Weapons Proficiency really that onerous a burden for a druid?

    Complete Warrior base classes

All of the classes are too weak to be included in a normal party without being a 5th wheel. I don't like them. That seems to be a problem with many of the new base classes, the ninja or shugenja, for example, seem to suffer from the same problem. Take the samurai. It is a fighter variant...

    Top 10 odd D&D weapons

The repeating crossbow is a real weapon. Here is the wikipedia article.

    Grapple question

What does pinning have to do with disarming a character of a weapon? The pin rules state "you can use a disarm action to remove or grab away a well secured object worn by a pinned opponent, but he gets a +4 bonus on his roll to resist your attempt". There's no mention of disarming an opponent of...

    Grapple question

Is the list of actions in the grapple section a list of all actions you can perform in a grapple, or are those actions in addition to the actions a character can normally take in combat? For example, is is possible to disarm another character's weapon in a grapple?

Players: Do your characters need to be kewl?

I've played both. My previous character was more of an everyman (if we're just choosing between those two choices). He was a traveller from another continent who was searching for his brother. My character before that was a changling (half-fey, not doppelganger-light) warlock in a campaign that...

Who Else Has Never Been To Gen Con?

I've never been there, or any gaming convention.

What do you call arcane magic users?

Hmm. I don't know why it never occurred to us to call them "mages". That's what they were called in second edition, wasn't it? “Arcanists” is good too. If only I had asked before the campaign was over, we could have avoided some rather awkward sentences.

What do you call arcane magic users?

I just finshed up a campaign in which arcane magic was widely associated with evil and persecuted by the church. However, we never really had a good word to describe people who used non-divine magic. We pretty much just refered to arcane magic users as arcane magic-users, but that never sounded...

    Surprise Round

I don't use suprise rounds often because my NPCs rarely hide. I tend to use monsters more than classed NPCs, and monsters tend to have negative Hide modifiers.

Before I go through all this effort... (modron question)

Well, WotC put out 3.0 stats for modrons in the Manual of the Planes web enhancement, but it doesn't include rogue modrons. Planewalker.com has rogue modrons in their races section.

    Yeenoghu writeup

For what it's worth, Yeenoghu has much better hit points, better saving throws, better damage reduction, a much better Armor Class, and deals better damage than a balor. He wields a better weapon, too. In a fight, Yeenoghu would beat the crap out of a balor. The just happen to have the same CR...

    XP or EP?

No, copper pieces and platinum pieces are still around. 1 pp = 10 gp = 100 sp = 1000 cp. They got rid of electrum pieces because they weren't needed. You don't really need a coin sitting between gold and silver.

Do you have to hold metamagic rods to use them?

There doesn't seem to be a general rule governing the use of rods, so I think you just need to have a rod in your possession unless specified otherwise.

    Why dont you kill PCs?

I normally try to design adventures and campaign that can absorb PC death, so I don't try to avoid killing PCs. I probably end up killing about 1 PC every 3 sessions or so, barring special circumstances. Some players tend to have thier PCs die more often than others, of course. In a Star Wars...

Do you prefer damage or "tactics" during combat?

I like tactics that allow me to deal more damage.

    Half-elves........why no one chooses them?

I'd agree with that. The poor half races, they suffer so much. Society persecutes them, the rules persecute them. Its tragic, really. They have to watch those damn dwarves strutting around like they own the place, with thier +2 Constitution and +2 on saves vs. spells.

Improved Natural Attack and Claws of the Beast

The answer to the first question is yes. Claws of the beast gives you a claw attack, Improved Natural Attack (claw) improves the damage dealt by claw attacks. The second question is a little fuzzier. However, WotC recently said on their website here that magic items count for meeting a feat's...

    Magic missile too strong?

A 1st level archer could easily have Rapid Shot, which increases his damage per round substantially. There's also a big difference between a wizard using magic missile twice per day and an archer using a bow every round. The wizard should deal more damage for those two rounds he's casting...
