If you could only buy 5 new "old school" modules, which would you pick?

You can read reviews of the first five Advanced Adventures from Expeditious Retreat Press at Dragonsfoot: AA1 The Pod Caverns of the Sinister Shroom (and here) AA2 The Red Mausoleum (and here) AA3 The Curse of the Witch Head (and here) AA4 The Prison of Meneptah (and here) AA5 The Flaming...

    Poll: 1E or 2E?

To my mind, there is so little difference between 1e and 2e that it barely matters, it is all AD&D to me. I would, as I do, run a hybrid of both.

[OSRIC] Orcs' Nest Fast Play Module

Quick update on this. The beta version of Orcs' Nest is now available for download, which corrects a few mistakes here and there (and introduces at least one new one, I am now told). I have also started a blog called Silver Blade Adventures, which I am using to support the module, and also to...

4E Out-Selling Any Previous Edition. Good? Bad.

Absolutely, I agree. No, no, that's not what I was referring to. What was being asked was why WotC compared the initial 4e print run to the initial 3.5e print run, and not the initial 3.0e print run. The speculation was that the initial 3.0e print run was greater than the 3.5e print run. That...

4E Out-Selling Any Previous Edition. Good? Bad.

Thanks for taking the time to address this, Stephen. The question was not one of total sales numbers, but of print runs. I can believe that 4e had a larger initial print run than 3.5, the question was whether 3.5 had a larger initial print run than 3.0. If you are saying that the sales numbers...

    Wired Reviews 4e

Sure, and that's one of the things I like about 4e. Of course, the same exact thing could be said of Savage Worlds or a number of other RPGs otherwise unrelated to Dungeons & Dragons. I am in two minds about this. It may well be the case that 4e recaptures some of the spirit of AD&D 1e, but...

    Wired Reviews 4e

Weren't people saying the same exact thing about D20 when it was first released? I am sure that part of WotC's advertising campaign was that D20 was closer to AD&D 1e than AD&D 2e. There are good things in 4e, that's undeniable. Some of them were in previous editions, that's true too. But I...

4E Out-Selling Any Previous Edition. Good? Bad.

It certainly hasn't sold out everywhere online. Three retailers mentioned above apparently have copies right now. Paizo also looks like they have them, but I can't be sure because of their 5-11 business days stipulation before shipping.

4E Out-Selling Any Previous Edition. Good? Bad.

Try somewhere else then. Amazon UK seem to have plenty as well, as do Leisure Games. Thanks. I am not necessarily convinced, but I assume Mearls has spoken to somebody in the know.

4E Out-Selling Any Previous Edition. Good? Bad.

That would be interesting if true. I would be interested in any evidence you have to substaniate that. In any case, though, it is initial print runs we're interested in here, not total sales (as it would be useless to compare 4e's sales in two days to 3.5's sales in 4 years, unless 4e had...

4E Out-Selling Any Previous Edition. Good? Bad.

As James Mishler points out, it's interesting that sales of 4.0e are being compared to 3.5e and not 3.0e. Also, the numbers being considered are what shops are ordering, not what is available to the general public. It is not difficult to get a copy of 4e online as far as I can tell, even if a...

The Only Thing That Matters About 4th Edition - Is It METAL?

Damn it. I meant to choose option 4, but I accidently clicked on option 3. It is even less metal than 3e, which is saying something. Of course, it is quite NuMetal. ;) AD&D 1e - Option 1 (c. 1975-1990, ex. Led Zepplin) AD&D 2e - Option 2 (c. 1990-2000, ex. Metallica 2e, i.e. The Black Album...

[OSRIC] Orcs' Nest Fast Play Module

I don't mind at all, go right ahead. The more people who know, the more likely someone will find something they like. Let me know how it turns out if you do manage to get a chance to run through it.

[OSRIC] Orcs' Nest Fast Play Module

Ha, ha. Let's assume that I have a sense of humour about it. I daresay such errors reflect the lateness of the hour.

    OOTS #562 is up!

Heh, interesting installment. Not sure if the whole Ninja Girl fantasy works for me comedically, but still pretty good.

[OSRIC] Orcs' Nest Fast Play Module

Perhaps partly as a result of the impending (and now actual) release of Dungeons & Dragons 4e and the recent passing away of Gary Gygax and Robert Bledsaw, there has been something of a renewal of interest in traditional adventure role-playing games. One of the things that is being done to...

    New GSL Announcement

Sure Peter, I know it won't affect Troll Lord Games, I was thinking more of third party support for Castles & Crusades, such as the conversion of Dungeon Crawl Classics from Good Man Games or the much anticipated Free Port conversion from Green Ronin.

    Classes and Races is Here!

Ah right. I must have misconstrued the meaning in your Design Diary. I hope that this product is doing well for you, the reviews seem very favourable.
