    D&D 5E (2014) Wording of Hex Warrior

The spell doesn't get you ability bonus to damage any way so it has the same attack and damage in your main hand as off hand. Because its 2d6 at lvl 2is about the same damage as a shortsword with with and ability modifier to damage. Its also has the finesse, light, and thrown properties (range...

    D&D 5E (2014) Wording of Hex Warrior

But the shadow blade spell in the off hand has no down fall... well except your not using it in your main hand if you have the Thirsting Blade invocation that gives you two attacks.

    D&D 5E (2014) Wording of Hex Warrior

If the warlock gets the improved pact weapon invocation they can make ranged weapons. though I doubt most GMs are going to let Laser Carbine fly. lol I like the idea having a sword, changing it to a glave or whip with booming blade to assist the tank, then a crossbow when enemies run instead of...

D&D 5E (2014) What "attack"-oriented cantrips do you like the most?

Or if your a sorcerer quicken spell Create Bonfire for control and Booming Blade because now then enemy has to decide to eat fire damage each turn or move and take booming blade damage and maybe an opportunity attack if they can't side step in the case of two allies in melee for example. I find...

D&D 5E (2014) What "attack"-oriented cantrips do you like the most?

Create Bonfire because its the only real control spell cantrip and if you have an enemy cornered or locked in position some how it can be used to effectively attack twice a turn. I get that is niche, but that is why I like it. Its not just another damage spell. It takes skill to use but in the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Worst Classes Level 1.

They are both in the running for sure. I lean to warlock being worse because a ranger can still shoot arrows but needs GM to make the level 1 abilities useful but the warlock only has 2 cantrips and one spell slot unless your GM is providing a number of short rests. If your a caster your the...

D&D 5E (2014) If not the word "race", what word instead?

The races not having common ancestry is just fact, there is nothing to comment or react to. It just is. So I felt no need react to it. However, the half race comment has been used multiple times as a statement that they are the same race now. That disserves to be clarified because people are...

D&D 5E (2014) If not the word "race", what word instead?

That actually is untrue, depending on setting. In older settings elves were made to be able to bread with humans with a curse as revenge by the wife of the creator of elves to punish her husband. Orcs were given a blessing to bread with any humanoid and create half orc off spring in order to...

D&D 5E (2014) Theory Crafting fun: Max initiative?

Ah, for got only level 14 Lore Bards can cast inspiration on them selves. I fixed that and added a note for lore bards since I was only using 12 levels. Another good note, I think sticking with Bard then makes since it is a level lower to pick up and on a full spell caster class.

D&D 5E (2014) Theory Crafting fun: Max initiative?

What I meant was I am assuming a max of 20 stat. The tomes and epic boons are rare and uninteresting as an answer in my opinion because of what you just said.

D&D 5E (2014) People didn't like the Psionic Talent Die

I liked the Aberent mind sorcerer better than the Psionic Soul. However, I thought the Pychic die with Psi Knight and Soulknife were fine.

D&D 5E (2014) Theory Crafting fun: Max initiative?

Your saying we disagree but I am not sure we actually do. 1. The first turn of an of an entire battle can change the out come. I do agree the cyclical nature means its limited to the first round, but depending on who your fighting and how much you pull of there might not be a second round for...

D&D 5E (2014) Theory Crafting fun: Max initiative?

The Gunslnger is critical role content like the blood hunter. That is a fair point so I dropped it. Initiative can and does matter in party play under two common conditions. 1. Weak enemies that can be eliminated before they get a chance to attack are present in the battle. 2. Strategic...

D&D 5E (2014) Theory Crafting fun: Max initiative?

That's a guess because nothing RAW reflects that as RAI. I understand the opinion, but I generally hold to RAW and let Wizards clarify in Errata, Sage advice, or even a D&D beyond video. If I can not confirm their intent somewhere, that is a house rule and I don't surprise my player as GM nor do...

Good catch, I added it to the list of ways to get advantage at the bottom. Edit, I did not realize Sentinel Shield does not require attunement so that is added.

D&D 5E (2014) Theory Crafting fun: Max initiative?

For the sake of some small note of realism, I am going to ignore the max 30 stats from the DMG. I am also avoiding Artifact items such as The Sword of Kas. If you want to do other wise that is fine. This is just what I want to do. yuan-ti-pureblood "Your Charisma score increases by 2, and your...

    D&D 5E (2014) What Level 20 Class Would Win?

I want to agree with you but wizards get the feeblemind spell and sorcerers don't. That means save or die for the sorcerer which automatically leans it to wizards. If even one sorcerer subclass had feeblemind as a spell option, or if your fighting level 14 and lower then yes the sorcerer is very...
