Anyone else mark the monster population ON a copy of the dungeon map when preparing?

One thing I've found that helps me understand a module I'm preparing is taking the time to mark out where each creature defaults to in the module's lay out. It's a little time consuming, but it helps me IMMENSELY to grasp how things are laid out and who might come running if PCs call attention...

Sage Advice: Jeremy Crawford on Ability Checks & What They're Not

Crawford thinks one can and the rules text does not seem to expressly contradict that. SInce Counterspell is just Somatic, I could see one making the argument that you'd need a second hand free if the original spell had Somatic / Material components.

Parry / Shield type reactions can be used to protect against OAs.

D&D 5E (2014) Dungeons and Dragons and the RPG Stigma

He had enough concern for the OP to warn them about the board's potential biases.

    D&D 5E (2014) Can a wizard learn a new cantrip from a scroll?

It's because cantrips are more At Will Class Abilities than just another spell. They are similar to the martial classes' Combat Styles that stick with a character through the campaign.

Sage Advice: Jeremy Crawford on Ability Checks & What They're Not

That's they way I'm going to run it, you want to stop them from casting a spell, do it or don't. IMHO a reaction is far too little time to piece together what set of hand gestures, words of power and potential materials from over all the potential ways people learn spells.

D&D 5E (2014) Advice Needed: Converting Spells Across Elements

Player should be paying research costs, and spending down time to create new spells. Unless you run a low treasure campaign, 1000GP per week, 1 week per level would be the minimum cost IMHO. Also don't be afraid of adjusting your monster palette. Just because a player is better with one...

D&D 5E (2014) Dual hand crossbows, poison and hex warlock

Feat may take the Load feature off the crossbow, but you still need to put bolts in the crossbows, they are not automatic weapons.

    D&D 5E (2014) Enlarge beyond Large

A creature Enlarged by the spell gets the same effect whether it's a PC or NPC. 3E and 4E already showed the folly of letting PCs jump weapon die sized with simple buffs as shidaku points out.

Sage Advice: Jeremy Crawford on Ability Checks & What They're Not

Yeah, but since 9th level mages are generally clocking in at CR 6, they'll have enough spells to burn to force theirs through while each slot used by the players adds up fast even at middle levels.

    The Last Witch Hunter (trailer)

Looks like a bald Buffy. Could be fun with a bucket of faux butter drenched popcorn and a hip flask of peppermint schnapps.

    D&D 5E (2014) Enlarge beyond Large

Maybe make those changes a higher level spell. The effects of the Enlarge spell were set the way they were to keep the spell balanced with other spells, not to fully emulate the effects of being a whole size class larger. An Enlarged greatsword wielder most certainly gets screwed out of as much...

Sage Advice: Jeremy Crawford on Ability Checks & What They're Not

Really not liking CounterSpelling Counterspells. It allows resources to be burned WAY too fast and gives way to much to the active caster.

RIFTS Is Coming To SAVAGE WORLDS!

There is a certain level of perseverance, stick withitness, and flat out stubbornness I've mentally associated with the Palladium / Rifts. That the company is one of the ones that was in and STAYED in Detroit, pretty much confirms at lest some of those qualities. As to the city, when I was told...

ELEMENTAL EVIL Miniatures Now Available (Limited Numbers)

I'll believe "Low stock" when they stop selling the fig for good. "Low stock" likely means they are getting low on their first couple hundred castings of the 1500. And that's AFTER shipping off the pre-orders from other game stores.

If Batfleck is going to use a voice changer, the studio should have made it sound like Kevin Conroy!
