Looking over the vaugely worded Find Mount spell, I can't help but ponder just what, if anything a mounted paladin gets over a person normally riding a typical warhorse. How do folks around here treat the Spell / Paladin mount. Has any of the wotc crew commented on this spell?

I assumed that rule was a big reason WHY the Encounter XP multiplier gets high with a lot of foes. Especially with foes that get extra damage dice with allies nearby.

While I prefer natural healing to be much slower, the damage output in 5E really does feel like it was set assuming HP healed to full each day.

Picking over the rules looking for abuses isn't being creative. Nor is turning combat into one shot rocket tag, especially since both players and their foes taking to the air isn't that unusual at high levels. Now perhaps 150' might be a better distance so near ground fliers still are likely...

It's why attack bonuses don't climb by each level or close to that for PCs, being far closer to Basic than AD&D & 3E.

Disarm is an option the DM chooses whether or not to add. Also there is no "pin" when grappling to stop casting, closest to that is the Restrained condition those with the grapple-y feat can apply.

I certainly wouldn't reduce the reward for the lesser foes since at 5th the party doesn't have THAT much in the way of AoE resources to trivialize a mass of foes like that... yet. It will happen, but for the moment, that horde probably took some effort that would have made pasting the chain...

The Base MM humaniods, notably orcs and hobgoblins can be MUCH more dangerous than old school versions and even goblins have a solid to hit and damage. If you want larger numbers of humanoids for an encounter, Just use commoners CR 0 (10XP), bandits, guards, nobles and tribesmen CR 1/8th (25xp)...

I'd rule it's generally used by the important to get between larger towns and cities so yeah, the set up is there, but they are not likely to let strangers, foreigners or the ill bred make use of the mounts without persuasion or backing of someone important. Once that's taken care of, you'd...

As to it being punishment to make the player have a character lower level than other PC's, in my experience four times out of five, it is the other players being too cheap to resurrect the dead character or the player being too impatient to wait for their allies to raise the character.

Just accelerate that player's level gains.

I can't get my hopes up on a render. Once it is a physical object and covered in the WK paint, then I'll be impressed if the detail is retained.

Revivify, Raise Dead and Resurrection and other effects are in the system for this reason.

Build the character at 3rd level, but start with 0XP. The character can level as XP accrues during short rests until within 3 levels of the rest of the party at which point XP is distributed at end of session as normal for my game.
