WotC setting search winner - Eberron

Re: Count me (proudly) amongst the Whiners! The submission requirements, which I have posted early in this thread and is the official invitation, just mentions a fantasy setting, nothing about medieval, anything else mentioned should have been taken a hersay. Still they say that hindsight is...

WotC setting search winner - Eberron

For all those that claim that the setting isn't what WotC asked for and those suggesting the possibility of lawsuits, I was able to find a copy of the setting search document, here is what WotC asked for: PROPOSALS FOR A NEW FANTASY SETTING Wizards of the Coast, Inc. is searching for proposals...

WotC setting search winner - Eberron

So they call it a train, this is highly likely if they were commissioned by merchants that already used wagon trains (train being a middle english word) to transport goods overland. :D

WotC setting search winner - Eberron

It's a land boat. If you have enough magic to make things fly, why wouldn't an enterprising merchant comission a flying boat to make transporting stuff easier. In one of the Dying Earth stories Cugel creates a floating boat using special osip(?) wax and then runs a commercial land ferry. :D

[WOTC Setting Search] Do you want to play in a Swashbuckling Steampunk setting?

I didn't actually see anything in the article that called it a steampunk setting. Just other people colouring the article with their prejudices. Looking at the pictures posted I am getting more of a spelljammer / planscape feel.

WotC setting search winner - Eberron

The article doesn't give enough info to make final picture. To be it is bit like saying; mammal, brain, heart, lungs, liver and kidneys and expecting us to be able to picture what the animal looks like. Based on peoples reactions on this thread, I am leaning towards Pro, basically because so...

How popular is Warhammer in the UK?

GW are also producing at the moment 'Battle Games of Middle earth'. A 24 page magazine the every 2 weeks with rules and modeling info together with some figures for about GBP4.00 an issue. It is for people that have never played before. First issue came with 12 goblins, paint, paint brush, die...

WOTC D20 Modern vs AEG Spycraft

d20 Modern has no default assumed setting, so there is no USA 2002 with magic lurking in the shadows, that is one of the sample campaign settings. I don't like the fact the all the sample campaign settings in the book are magic based, but it doesn't take up a large section. My personal favourite...

    Wealth bonus and "treasure"

The easiest thing to do is work backwards. The players find a Gem worth $500 To find out how much that really effects their buying power (Wealth Bonus) work out the bonuses to wealth as if they were going to sell it. So the DC for selling is 12 (DC15 -3 for selling). One of the thing to...

WOTC D20 Modern vs AEG Spycraft

It is an interesting article (missed it first time round), one error that jumps out however is the amount of Action Points in Modern. In modern you get 5 + 1/2 Level AP per level for Basic Classes, 6+1/2 Level AP per level for Advanced Classes and 7 + 1/2 Level AP per Prestige Classes. Each AP...

WOTC D20 Modern vs AEG Spycraft

I disagree, just look at the amount of magic available in the different campaigns. ShadowChasers is Call of Cthullu / X-files / Buffy, no - low level magic. Urban Arcana is more DnD / Charmed. To me that is a huge difference in setting and style.

WOTC D20 Modern vs AEG Spycraft

Thanks. It is just that this article http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20modern/article/20020930a says that The d20 Modern Roleplaying Game enjoyed humble beginnings as the brainchild of Bill Slavicsek. It was proposed first as an action-horror game called Shadow Chasers... I guess everyone...

    Advanced Class: Skateboard Ninja

Sounds like a mix of Martial Artist, Daredevil, Speed Demon and Infiltrator. Of the top of my head (I don;t have the books at work) UA has some info on self powered vehicles. Perhaps have it as a prestige class rather than an Advanced Class.

Any d20 games other than M&M that do not use class and hit dice?

At the moment, no. M&M is the only game that I am aware of.
