    Any Planar adventures for 3.5

The Shackled City adventure path from Dungeon magazine had excursions to the planes (Test of the Smoking Eye, I think it was), but I haven't seen anything for Planescape, if that's what you mean. Planewalker.com (when it comes back online) has a lot of short adventure scenarios. Didn't Bastion...

Which variant rules do you use, and why?

I really like the Iron Heroes variant rules. Armor as DR and Skill Groups make so much more sense to me. Reserve points are also a good innovation. Oh, and definitely Defense Bonus instead of AC to hit. Your skill as a fighter should count when defending as well as when attacking.

    D&D 4E Hasbro, Greyhawk, and 4E speculation

I'm not asking individuals what their salaries are, I'm only trying to get a ballpark figure for what professionals in the industry as a whole (or maybe at WotC) are making. That's certainly not rude. The Bureau of Labor Statistics carries this kind of data for various occupations. Just keep in...

    D&D 4E Hasbro, Greyhawk, and 4E speculation

So as someone who once contemplated being an RPG writer what are the salaries at WotC like? I know from the posts I've read that writers for small rpg companies don't make a lot of money. Many of them complain about that, and the little work that I've done confirms it. On the other hand, I've...

    Lonely Gamers Anonymous (a lament)

Unfortunately our group is in downtown Toronto, but if it's any consolation you'd be welcome to join us. You sound like the kind of normal, mature guy that would fit well into our group, although we're in the around-30 demographic. We're currently finishing up a Planescape mega-campaign, and...

    Who are Howard and Leiber?

One master author who is almost never mentioned is Mervyn Peake. Gormenghast is quite possibly the finest piece of fantasy writing in the English language. Yes, better than Tolkien, though his world is far different and less detailed than Tolkien's. I was amused to no end when I saw it cited as...

    Who are Howard and Leiber?

Well, there are exceptions to everything, but for me at least it's not nostalgia at all. I just read Howard and Leiber for the first time a couple of years ago, in the 90s, and I'm a young-ish guy. Hardly weeping gently at my glory days there. I tried reading the Shannara books and the Wheel of...

    Who are Howard and Leiber?

Nice. Thanks, CM Games. I've never had the chance to read his short stories, even though I've been a Lovecraft fan forever and have heard of Lord Dunsany many a time.

Which illustrator's work would you like to see in gaming?

I'd like to see Mike Mignola illustrate the Iron Heroes series. It would be a perfect fit. Peter Bergting also has a style very suitable to dark fantasy. Perez for regular D&D. Steve Prescott has a great, meticulate style. More of his stuff would be good. WAR is great too, but there is...

    Who are Howard and Leiber?

On a somewhat related note, do any Leiber fans know where I can track down the comic book adaptation of Ill Met in Lankhmar? It was a great series from around 1990, drawn by Mike Mignola (see a review here). I haven't had any luck with ebay or amazon. The art was phenomenal, and I think it was...

Join Necromancer Games in helping Katrina Victims

Kudos to Necromancer and Adamant. You're the good guys. I hope the authorities in Louisiana can get their act together to make proper use of those funds.

You crack open the beholder and find scrolls.

Mt. Zogon had just the thing: http://www.zogonia.com/mtzogonarchive/galeena17.html In my game, all demons drop black diamonds after they're defeated. That's their evil, evil heart. (nod to Talislanta)

    Who are Howard and Leiber?

I agree with Moogle and Barsoomcore that few, if any, of today's fantasy writers can match the great masters of the past...and I'm not some old, nostalgic fogey! Their prose is just plain better, though I understand that people's tastes will vary according to their preference for high-brow or...

    Record Your Ptolus Pre-Orders Here!

Good lord! I was thinking about buying this since I really like Malhavoc products and the whole package is a great deal, but that's a bit rich for my blood. That's like, what, 1/3 the price of an XBOX360? I hope something gets worked out for Canadian fans.

    Low Magic Settings?

The Black Company campaign setting, from Green Ronin. No magical healing, specific low-magic spellcasting rules, and grim combat including mass combat rules. Iron Heroes for action-oriented low-magic rules. It doesn't really come with a setting though. Both of those are very good.

    D&D needs trailers like these

I don't think we need bad animation to promote D&D. After all, .hack/Sign has already been released in the US. ;)

What other boards do you post on/check out?

If anyone is looking for a decent Rifts forum, try NexusNine. It's the thinking man's Rifts forum, far better than Palladium's forums of the megaverse. Low volume, small membership and the absence of loud 15-year-olds makes for some good conversation. http://forums.nexusnine.net
