D&D 5E (2014) DM Help! My rogue always spams Hide as a bonus action, and i cant target him!

Just pointing out that to hide you just need to not be clearly seen by RAW. The pillar, assuming it gives enough cover, is a perfectly valid spot to hide. Another thing: unless using facing rules, RAW assumes that in combat all are aware of what happens around. Sort of 360° sight. Weird, but...

D&D 5E (2014) Up magic for Eldritch Knight

Ehrm guys not to break the bauble, it was already said that the PC is an Half-Orc :/ Prehaps elf would have been better mechanically, but roleplay-wise being an Half-Orc is going to be priceless :D Also it seems like you do not have access to SCAG :( The problem i see with the choice of both...

D&D 5E (2014) Up magic for Eldritch Knight

While i think that Magic Initiate would be a nice feat, i would not use it at level 1 to pick up both Greenflame Blade and Booming Blade. Peronal preference, i would rather have something like Mage Hand. Also... Does the spell from Magic Initiate allow slot casting to a EK? I suppose it does...

    D&D 5E (2014) Totally underwhelmed by 5e bladesinger, am I missing something?

Things that are more useful but EK has access to too: Levitate - probably better save numbers/earlier access/short range so better suited for the fray than distance (other wizards comparison - this is going to be used a lot -) Counterspell(other "low" level spells) - Earlier access/better...

    D&D 5E (2014) Totally underwhelmed by 5e bladesinger, am I missing something?

Ah ok a simple misunderstanding. Yep i agree that by closing your eyes you would get the shorter end of the stick. But still could be an useful tactic in particular circumstances (or if you simply want to abuse the system, like shooting at long range. - not that as a DM i would let it happen...

    D&D 5E (2014) Totally underwhelmed by 5e bladesinger, am I missing something?

Yes. No. "A creature is unaffected by this spell if it can't see, if it relies on senses other than sight, such as blindsight, or if it can perceive illusions as false, as with truesight." Three very distinct conditions. 1) Can't See or 2) Relies on something that is not sight or 3) Has...

    D&D 5E (2014) Totally underwhelmed by 5e bladesinger, am I missing something?

Except that not seeing actually counters Mirror Image, as written on the spell. Phantasmal Force does not affects undead and construct specifically because it's not an "image" illusion, it's a "mind" illusion. It's a personal affair. Assuming A works like B because they are in the same...

    D&D 5E (2014) Totally underwhelmed by 5e bladesinger, am I missing something?

I mean, i would rule that you have to take the blinded condition at the start of the turn and it will remain for your whole turn - meaning until the start of your NEXT turn. Similar to the beholder cone of anti-magic.

    D&D 5E (2014) Totally underwhelmed by 5e bladesinger, am I missing something?

Some misconceptions: Mirror Images occupy the same space as the caster. They appear there. And while they move, it's never stated that they ever leave the space. As Neogod22 said, you do not have to choose what to attack: the spell takes care of it. Also, targeting is not impaired, so any spell...

    D&D 5E (2014) Beholders, concentration, antimagic fields

Just for information... when did the beholder's lair become so spacious that he can't simply float on the point of origin of Darkness and then shoot the ground/shoot the party? Edit: By the way, pretty sure there's a tweet somewhere saying that disintegrate disintegrates chunks of matter if the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Totally underwhelmed by 5e bladesinger, am I missing something?

Considering that sight is not an exclusive (as in "either you see or you can't target") requirement to target a creature, it's not a requirement to target the person under mirror image. Not that i do not find the approach gamey, but he has a point about "taking disadvantage" over you rolling for...

    D&D 5E (2014) Totally underwhelmed by 5e bladesinger, am I missing something?

Actually, i've said i would use a much more conservative 1d8+5 as melee damage, so a total of 3d8+10 + conditionals against a 2d8+10. And remind, i say that 2d8+10 is just "meh", not bad. And it's "meh" because, as cbwjm said, i would have loved something like war magic for bladesingers, too...

October 2016 Sage Advice & PHB Errata

The default places to cast is actually given as "inside the chest". More of as a trap than anything. That is how i always read the spell... a trap, more than a true warding tool. But yeah you are right, it was "inside an object that can be closed". I always skipped the "that can be closed" part...

hejtmane Dueling was already counted. You know, 1d8 + 7 is impossible with just stats in this situation. I was assuming a very safe 16 in str/dex.

    D&D 5E (2014) Totally underwhelmed by 5e bladesinger, am I missing something?

At level 8 an EK can have 1d8+7 (likely not, let's say 1d8+5) x2 + 1d8 + 1d8+int to a second target/2d8 on conditional activation. And an extra Feat/ASI to increase damage. So no, not really at best... and i do not even know if this is at best, really. Kinda undermining your point, but i...

Going to be the one that breaks eggs here. The object moving part was always part of the spell. No matter what, your chest was always going to be unprotected. The change affects only surfaces. As in there where people that actually tought that removing the section of the floor with Glyph of...

Time for some Illusory script, alluding at the fact that it's actually an illusory script. After having the party run around for a source of truesight, the true message reads "Sucks to be you". And then there's a Magic Mouth on the case that only activates when the intended person opens it.
