I've never once tried or seen anyone counterspell in a game I ran or played in. Encumbrance pretty much comes down to, "Are you carrying anything unreasonable for your character? No. Fine." Arrows/bolts/stones are rarely kept track of.

If neither of these fit the bill, you could try looking online for heraldry symbols. Some of those use some nice silhouette dragons. Clip art type stuff.

I use Mage Knight when I run a game. They're pre-painted, cheap and I don't have to worry about them getting accidentally destroyed during a game. I don't need to be gentle with those figs. As for painting, I like a few of the Chainmail figs and GW, although they're on the expensive side...
