So that's it for 4th edition I guess?

I think that most forms of IP law are entirely unnecessary and that society would be better off without them.

So that's it for 4th edition I guess?

On a related note, does anyone else find it ridiculous that WotC can write words on paper in a certain order and then sue you for millions if you write down the same words in the same order?

D&D 5E (2014) More maneuvers at low level.

No, this would be too confusing for new players.

So that's it for 4th edition I guess?

When 4e was first announced and 3e fans complained about it, we were given snark about how "WotC is coming to burn your books and replace them with 4e!" Now that 5e is in the works, it seems that the 4e fans are having a similar reaction, to which I will reply: WotC is "killing" 4e as much...

    D&D 5E (2014) I hate expertise dice as a universal mechanic.

Love it as a fighter-only mechanic. Say "no" to rogues with expertise dice.

    D&D 5E (2014) Maneuvers discussion

Anything that grants a bonus to attacks, saving throws, or skill check is annoying to me. We're supposed to have "bounded accuracy," and yet characters are adding up to +10 to these things? Idiocy. I'd say that those abilities need to be changed so that you add half of the expertise die to...

D&D 5E (2014) Equipment and likely ability scores

This is why rolling stats is better than point buy.

D&D 5E (2014) October Playtest: Yay or Nay?

No, a finished game product has more polish. The game design goals should be clear from the get-go. Unfortunately, it seems that the current design goals are "toss it against the wall and see what sticks."

I'm changing Sneak Attack so that it automatically does a critical hit + your expertise dice. Does this sound reasonable?

Sneak Attack is bad. Needs to be a separate ability from expertise dice. Also, I don't like expertise dice for skills.

D&D 5E (2014) October Playtest: Yay or Nay?

While I see a number of improvements, I think that the game is rapidly becoming too complicated.

D&D 5E (2014) Not liking the specialty / feat system much.

It's an unfocused mash-up of powers and passive bonuses that don't really make sense. For instance, let's compare Maximize Spell, Durable, and Master Detective. • Maximize Spell: 1/day, do maximum damage on a spell. • Durable: Regain +2 HP per HD spent. • Master Detective: Detect hidden...

And not every class has access to expertise dice, and I'll wager that some maneuvers are unique to each class.

    D&D 5E (2014) Great news on Skills

3e skill points more accurately model reality (in a very, very loose sort of way) but they were also a bad system that bogged down the game. Class skills, cross-class skills, multiply by four--all a mess.

    D&D 5E (2014) Expertise Dice Number

It's pretty clear-cut. You gain 1d6 at first level. This is reflected by the 1d6 on the fighter table. If your friend were right, the fighter would have 2d6 expertise dice at first level. I don't know how he's interpreting it in his fashion except munchkin stupidity.[/LEFT]...
