So what Huge Miniatures would you like to see in the next Huge set?

Of those listed? I want me some Hydra ;). Don.

Do your PCs' actions carry over into your next campaign?

I use several campaign worlds (all homebrew), and in that world, the actions of each and every PC have lasting impact - just depends on when the next campaign is. For my core world of Nordalia, there are almost always several groups adventuring, and they can even effect each other in real-time...

    The making of Sephera

Hey Seph! I got so wrapped up in That Other Thread that I forgot to welcome you! So Welcome! Warning, some of them really do bite ;) If you're worried about not being your "normal" size for GenCon next year, may I suggest buying something a little less expensive than your seamstress would...

    The Tyranny of Choice

Nope. That's what I do. I'm harsh about it too. You want it for the zing-babs and the power-ups. Try ROLE PLAYING the type of character you want instead of thinking every single possible mutation needs a class. My son, OTOH, loves the variety (he's 19, a regular here though he does not frequent...

    Making Failure Fun

I'm with Merls. The only time I describe a miss as a failure on the PCs' part is a fumble, and then I do it in a light-hearted manner. Players make fun of each other for the oddness I describe, like "Garaf, you spin your sword in a low whirlwind arc, but the cleric was just stepping up to heal...

GenCon Indy 2007, let's shake the male/female ratios--or not, they seem fine here ;)

Not seeing the other thread, and having promised to follow up with the thoughts of my favorite female gamer, I will keep this thread alive for a bit longer... She sees this as several different issues: - She'd like to see more marketing for females - like lady's shirts. - She would not go sit...

Would you let a PC become a diety?

Wow.. Here goes. In Nordalia several of the "lesser deities" are ex PCs. I say "ex" because once they're raised to deityhood, they are no longer PCs, I take them over completely. I quash any attempt to say "I want to be the deity of X" for a concept- focus on your character living the first 15...

GenCon Indy 2007, let's shake the male/female ratios--or not, they seem fine here ;)

Wow. I've read (nearly) ever word of this thread... And I'm left wondering. The GMsSweetheart/The Webmistress/world-renowned author (in her field)/HardCore Gamer/Computer Geek that is my wife, partner, and evil twin, might fall either way on this topic. She enjoys the increasing number of...

    Judges Guild revival

I'm actually pumped about the announcement, and for those who worry about sales, you should probably be aware that, like most smaller publishers, C&C commands a very loyal base. The market may be smaller, but they'll sell a higher percentage of copies IRT the available market. I also hope that...

SHould paladins powers be lost peicemeal?

That would be a great plan, IFF the player and the GM had vaguely similar views. The paladin's code should be well documented for thier Order, but if you let players run with it, there are players that will claim killing innocents is "good" because it benefits them. Sorry, it's true. Some of...

    Paladin and his mount

Just an FYI, I do not allow Paladins to dismiss their mounts. Ever. And I do not allow them to call a new one for two years after it dies, and if they allowed it to die knowingly, they DO suffer. But the rest of the stuff might just be plot hook - has he taken away your paladin powers? I mean...

I refuse to DM 3/3.5 past 7th level. How about you?

With a ton of games running, it just gets to be too much work after around 13th, so I said "after 15th". C&C on the other hand just keeps going, and going, and... :D

    Gamer Significant Others

Happily married to a fellow gamer. My evil twin, we work together, we play together, we do it all together. And after 11 years, we're still thrilled about it. Well except for times like tonight when I dumped the possibility of armageddon on one of my gaming worlds... She's gonna lead the...

Philosophical question: Do games become "obsolete"?

Meh. All this argument seems supercilious to me. Fact is that people play new games, others don't move on. I would argue that 1E/2E is still very much alive and well, with many players that thought the entire "skills and feats are core to the game and can't be removed" idea wasn't for them...

Who would you pick to design Fourth Edition?

Diaglo's list plus Frank Mentzer. But since we're supposed to stick to people who haven't done it, I'll say "All new people". There are hundreds of thousands of gamers out there, and if even one percent are viable writers and half a percent are viable designers, you've got as good a chance of...

    Random Encounters

I've done both - abused them, even build dungeons around them, and not used them at all. In the end, I now use them to forward the story or contribute to it, never as purely random.

How long have you been a DM?

Started GMing in 82, and will stop when they bury me. Am I good at what I do? Yeah, I have to say I am. I rely upon player feedback for that, but since I have players from every group I've ever run still playing in my worlds - forty two total players, I assume that I'm doing it right. Like...

Now "Anyone" can be a Dungeon Master!

Wow, that's as bad as saying that "Since Hasbro put out book X or didn't put out book Y, it's the harbinger of 4E". Note the publisher - an Imprint of Sams Publishing. Nothing to do with Wizards or Hasbro, it says nothing about their plans. Proves nothing, quit hoping.

    Beyond High Fantasy

I do straight high-fantasy, but include espionage at higher levels. It can be cool to have characters who grew up slaying evil have to try and work in a society that does not necessarily agree with their beliefs while solving the espionage problem. Or to have them "hunt down" whom is leaking...

    Open D&D Campaigns

I don't do it (core books only without prior approval), but my son does - he allows about anything, but he's the worst stereotypical "bad things about D20" gamer - he wants no walls, no limits on players. His campaigns never seem to last too long, six or eight sessions at most.
