    Preview: Brutal Ability

changing 1 to 11 and 2 to 12 would make for a much more powerful weapon than just rerolling 1's and 2's. since rerolling a 1 could give you any result from 3-12 (avg 7.5) and the same with a 2, as opposed to a definate 11 or 12 edit (my average for 3-12 was too high, fixed it to 7.5)

    Healing and the Surgeless

I believe a healing potion will also do the same thing if you have no surges left.

    Weird idea on attribute costs

I havent really thought this through to much, but what about keeping things as they are but if you want to move a racial bonus stat you can do so, but the new stat gets a +1 rather than a +2. This way you still get to customize, but with a deterrent that will help to keep the races roughly the...

    Thy At-Will Be Done

well it would certainly make the power more useful. the fact that it triggers only off of a critical hit probably balances it well. If this was core, I would probably still choose cleave and tide of iron, but I would have definatly given this one a look. (he has resigned himself to the fact...

    Thy At-Will Be Done

Since I am most familiar with the fighter, those were the ones in your post I really keyed on. Reap what you sew is an interesting power, but is it appropriate to have an at-will be an reaction? I don't recall any other power being used this way for another class. Also, while it would be...

    Minotaur Paladin (Cleric in Plate)

but if you are going to go with a Paladin with the initiate of the failth feat, do consider radiant servent as your paragon path. Gives lots of goodies when you use a power that has the radiant keyword (most notably to crit on a 19 or 20). and the paladin has plenty of those.

    Rituals at 1. level?

you don't need to be trained in the appropriate skill for a ritual to cast it. you just wont be very good at it, particularly at low levels.

    Activating Dwarven Armor

I was under the impression that to use an action not on your turn it had to be classified as an immediate interrupt, or a reaction. but I could be wrong about this

    Rituals at 1. level?

also, in addition to the cost of the ritual book, the component cost for rituals is pretty steep as well. Even first level rituals are going to cost you at least 10G worth of components, so even wizards and clerics probably won't be casting many of them at first level.

    STR bonus and 2-handed Weapons

Power attack still gets better for two handed weapons vs one handed.

Split the Tree: Help me convince a player who doesn't agree

The advantage is that the power lets you roll twice and use the better result for both attacks, which will give you a higher average damage if you read that the power applies to both attack rolls and damage.

help understanding abilities scores and weapons

there are powers out there, one early one is crushing blow, level three attack power, if you wield a axe hammer or mace, you gain extra damage equal to your con modifer. you also want to consider feat selection when you choose your stats. blades need more dex, while axes and hammers need more con.

    Can I move 0?

Oh I dont know, you have to have cover to use stealth anyway, so you are just using your move action to position yourself better behind the bush you are crouching at, perhaps making the enemy think you moved around to the side of it or something. It makes sence to me

    A Question on Minions...

by a strict reading of the rules, the minions are not harmed. they are probably a little scorched, perhaps a burn or two, but it wouldnt slow them down.

    Great Weapon Fighter - underpowered??

I have to agree with the general consensus here. The great weapon fighter trades off some of his "defender" ability for more damage. he doesn't become a striker, but something in between stiker and defender. its not underpowered, its just different.

    Customer Service on Divine Challenge

I'm sorry if my quetion wasn't clear. The point of contention was that in effect in that scenario, the paladin will loose a round where he is able to issue the divine challenge. If the ogre is dead and he then moves away from the ogre, the paladin is not meeting the test that he must either...

    Customer Service on Divine Challenge

Ok here is another perhaps silly question about DC. as I read the description it says nothing with regard to what happens when the target that is marked is killed. consider this scenario: a paladin challenges an ogre and attacks in round one. a ranger ally moves into flanking position behind...

    Making a Bard

thanks for all the advice. If I end up with a "bard" I really want him to have more of a rogue-ishness than wizard, but I think either direction would make for a fun character.

What exactly does being "marked" mean?

marked simply means that anyone you mark that makes an attack that doesn't include you as a target suffers a -2 penalty to their attack rolls. The special marks of the paladin and the fighter have the other abilities as well, but all marks give the -2 penalty
