Folks, Assuming I can get enough players, in honor of the recent passing of Gary Gygax, on Saturday, I am planning on running an old-skool D&D game using nothing more than the 1981 Basic D&D game rules and the Keep on the Borderlands adventure. These are the very first D&D books I ever owned...

So... are we really going to try this, this weekend?

Next weekend? I can be up to speed on the rules again by then. Chris, I think you will find these very, ah, different. They have like 10 different game mechanics all going at once.

I think what would be fun would be to play the white box set of Castles and Crusades from Troll Lord Games. I picked it up back in 2004 and it is a neat little homage to the original D&D white box, using a variant of the D20 rules. It even came with dice you had to color with a crayon. Too...

I had my Basic and Expert rules out tonight just flipping through them. I think these are technically my second set of the red and blue rules, since I wore out my first set. Still, I picked these up 10-15 years ago.
