    Races & Classes spotted?

If the rumor is true and the dragonborn are core, I couldn't possibly be more disappointed. First off, I don't really like dragonmen anyway. But then with the whole angle of "normal person crawls into an egg and emerges as a dragonman"? Yeah, no. Not at all. Needless to say, they will be...

I think Orcs are the mystery race...

I wouldn't mind orcs, especially if it means half-orcs are never mentioned again. I want a strong, brutish, monstrous race in the PHB and orcs would certainly work. I'm still holding out hope for minotaurs, though.

    Rich Baker Blog on Monsters

    1) The bloodied condition and that there will be abilities that will only work depending on whether or not the affected character is or isn't bloodied. 2) Spells can critical. 3) There will be more reliance on per-encounter abilities. 4) The core game goes from level 1-30 now. 5) A vast...

Another Big Playtest Post from Michele Carter

The paladin is given powers by his deity, and when he loses them because he no longer acts according to his deity, you're trying to say his deity had no doing in that? And what is the deity getting from the paladin? Service and faith, most obviously. I don't see the distinction. Deities allow...

D&D 4E The 4e Mystery Race is going to be...

I'd be thrilled if the mystery race was minotaurs. I think it'd be great to have a large, monstrous race playable in the core. I'd settle for orcs, but man, I'd really like to see minotaurs.

Another Big Playtest Post from Michele Carter

I'm not even going to get into the real world and religious implications of that. This isn't the time or place. I'll just stick to D&D. Look at the Shield of the Sun, an artifact in the DMG. It's a shield powered by incredible lawful good energy. In exchange for the powers granted, the bearer...

Another Big Playtest Post from Michele Carter

Merriam Webster mentions fierce, wild, and brutal within the entry for feral. If that's the best chance for something not dark, I'm not exactly holding my breath, you know? But that's the point. To me, there's no reason the class fluff should limit the class in the way it seemingly does. I...

Another Big Playtest Post from Michele Carter

My concern isn't that I won't be able to play a good-aligned warlock, it's that I won't be able to play a warlock that gets his powers from anything other than dark sources. If someone wants to play a good warlock who gets his power from infernal or feral sources, great, by all means that should...

Another Big Playtest Post from Michele Carter

Disappointed to hear about the warlock. I guess I just don't see any reason why the class should be limited to drawing power from dark sources. Oh well, something to look forward to in 5e. Otherwise, I liked most of what I read. I really enjoy reading Michele's writing.

D&D 4E Peter Schaefer on his 4E Rogue (and a Goblin Ranger!)

Or maybe he just made up a number (well, I suppose the number '17' is real, but you know what I mean). I tend to use the number '42' for anything that requires a number I don't immediately know/recall. For example, if someone were to ask me how many decisions I made levelling up a 1st level...

    Monster Pantheon vs Racial Pantheon

I like what Green Ronin did with The Book of the Righteous. Instead of having different racial gods, they have one pantheon of gods, but different races might interpret those gods in different ways. For example, Canarak is a chaotic evil god of destruction, violence, etc. To humans, elves, and...

D&D 4E Bioware working on 4e Forgotten Realms MMO

Come on, Mass Effect bears some resemblence to Star Wars. Like you said, both are space sci-fi with alien races and strange planets. Both have intergalactic governments and the associated politics. Both have an elite organaztion (Jedis/Spectres) that has some connection to those governments...

D&D 4E Bioware working on 4e Forgotten Realms MMO

Bioware does have Mass Effect coming out at the end of November. It's basically Kotor 3 with the serial numbers filed off.

D&D 4E Easy way to see updated 4E blogs on Gleemax?

Me too. Without some central place to tell me when each blog has been updated, it's pointless. I'm not gonna check two dozen blogs every day just to see if one of them was updated.

D&D 4E Bioware working on 4e Forgotten Realms MMO

That's misleading. EA paid $860 million for the entirety of Bioware and Pandemic. That accounts for much, much more than just a licensed MMO. Anyway, doesn't seem to matter anymore. According to Scott, Atari's got the license.

D&D and World of Warcraft (Not a Rant)

Those are all also found in Shadow Hearts, a PS2 RPG that came out in the middle of 2001, over three years before WoW.

D&D and World of Warcraft (Not a Rant)

Not that I'm against it, but none of that really strikes me as being influenced from WoW. I mean, if me and another guy are both wearing jeans, did one of us influence the other? Probably not, jeans are just a common thing to wear. Same thing with elves liking nature and there being a ranger...

Scott Rouse blog - Rogue ability

I like the ability. The rogue could start an encounter invisible, sneak around behind an enemy and flank him, sneak attack him once or twice, and then use the ability to quickly dart back behind the fighter he was flanking with before drawing back a little bit and maybe plucking away with a bow...
