D&D 5E (2014) 12th Level monk with a speed of 50' had to use half her movement to stand up from prone!

Yes. Look at it this way, she can stand up and still have almost as much movement as any other character, and could spend a Ki point to get another 50' of movement. If she really wants to bounce up without much penalty at all, there's the Athlete feat.

D&D 5E (2014) DM Help! My rogue always spams Hide as a bonus action, and i cant target him!

Yes! Hide is listed right in the "actions in combat" section of the PHB.

D&D 5E (2014) DM Help! My rogue always spams Hide as a bonus action, and i cant target him!

Yes, "hiding" is a lot more than just ducking behind cover, that's why it's an action all by itself. A Rogue can move, stab, and use cunning action to dash back into cover, but there's no Hide in that case; the enemies know exactly where that Rogue is, no Perception check necessary. Hiding...

D&D 5E (2014) Battle Master vs. Eldritch Knight

Even if you're comparing by damage, I don't think using smite as a guideline makes much sense. Paladins get half spell progression but have a very limited spell list with basically no direct damage outside of bonus action smites. Eldritch Knights get a very different spell list with few bonus...

    D&D 5E (2014) Darkvision + Skulker = Blind sight?

My first reaction is that treating darkness as dim light doesn't actually make it dim light, so the 3rd Skulker bonus doesn't apply. But on further thought, since 1) otherwise that bonus does nothing, and 2) the gain (normal Wis checks) is not a big deal, I think I'd probably allow it. Feats...

    D&D 5E (2014) Casting a spell in a lower-level slot?

I wouldn't do it as you've written them. Part of the whole point of spell levels, for example, is that blasting spells affect at most a 15-ft cone area at 1st level, maybe a 10-ft radius sphere at 2nd level, etc. For a de-leveled fireball I'd absolutely reign in the area of effect. And a...

D&D 5E (2014) Is the Monk of the Long Death overpowered?

Rolling an 18, 16, and 15 is well beyond a typical pointbuy, which doesn't even allow 16s, but if it did you'd still only be able to buy an array of 16,16,13,8,8,8 at best. So yes, you're lucky. But given equivalent ability scores, a Fighter should be able to deal nearly as much damage with a...

D&D 5E (2014) Is the Monk of the Long Death overpowered?

That's not how temporary hit points work. You get to choose the new temp hp or the temp hp you already have - if you have 6 temp hp and trigger an ability that gives you 9, you now can choose to have 9 temp hp.

    Creating a 5e Slayer

I'm going to second what others have said: the subclass just doesn't seem to me that much different from a Champion plus a few Feats (like Martial Adept and GWM). The main distinctive feature from 4E (doubling up on the damage bonus) is really not a good idea in 5E. It's like an always-on...

    D&D 5E (2014) Would skeletons avoid fire?

I don't think the question is "are skeletons smart enough to avoid fire". They absolutely are; INT 6 is higher than animals or even Ogres. But they "follow orders to the letter", "regardless of the consequences", although they are able find their way around obstacles. So if their orders are...

    D&D 5E (2014) Eberron 5e - What do we want?

I'd love an adventure that fleshes out a bit some of the less-detailed parts of Khorvaire. For example, something roaming around in the west would be great (start out in Drooam/the Shadow Marches, explore your way through the deep Eldeen Reaches to a climactic battle in the Demon Wastes!) The...

    D&D 5E (2014) Drizzt as a LG 8th Level Champion

2E was released barely a year after the Crystal Shard, and the designers are on record stating that the Ranger design was NOT inspired by Drizzt. The design would have to have been largely done before the book even came out anyway. But as you say, 1E drow rangers could dual wield quite well...

D&D 4E One thing I miss from 4e...the Saving Throws

A three-save system that sums pairs of ability score modifiers runs into problems with wide spreads in save bonuses, though. The Barbarian might start out with +8 to Fort and max out at +16, while the Wizard stays at +0, and that's before any magic items/class abilities/etc. With 5e's default...

Can you shoot a bow and wear a shield at the same time?

There's quite a bit of ancient art, actually, depicting warriors using shortbows with a shield strapped to the arm holding the bow. Usually a smallish round shield with a shortbow, and they used the bow from a kneeling or half-kneeling position.

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock and Repelling Blast

The rules do not require causes to precede their effects, especially inside a single action. So it is perfectly consistent for the spell to take effect "before" the components have been provided. It breaks with our normal notions of causality, but the rules do not require that our normal...

    D&D 5E (2014) Troll regeneration

I read it as operating on a round-by-round basis (so it heals 10hp unless it took acid/fire since its last turn), and yes, technically this means only the last bit of damage needs to be fire/acid to kill it. You could always require a certain total amount of acid/fire damage to keep it dead...

    D&D 5E (2014) Weapons: Nunchuku

For the monk it's kinda irrelevant what weapon they actually wield, and past level 11 it doesn't really matter at all. You use your Martial Arts die for damage, your attacks are magical, and there are very few monsters for whom the distinction between bludgeoning/piercing/slashing is relevant...

    D&D 5E (2014) Shield Variants for a greek setting

IMO the real issue is lack of rules for fighting in formations. If that's going to be a prominent thing in your campaign, maybe work up some basic rules for phalanx fighting - once that's in place then there will likely be an obvious way for shields to mesh with those rules.

    D&D 5E (2014) Spell damage = magical damage?

Whether the piercing damage from Ice Knife counts as "weapon" damage at all (let alone "magical") is really up to the DM, but IMO it is not. It's a ranged spell attack; I'd rule that in general any attack that keys off a spell ability modifier is inherently magical and not a weapon attack of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Variant spellcasting

I really like the wizard specializations, so if I wanted to give them more oomph I'd grant them earlier and/or make them more powerful. Grant the 6th level feature as an extra 2nd level feature (or level 5, since that's where you're starting), 10th at 6th, etc. Since you don't intend to go...
