    Gamer lingo glossary

Not quite as common as the half-dragon/half-demon/drow/lycanthrope/vampire/sorcerer/wizard/rogue/assassin/blackguard/shadowdancer characters trotted out as "proof" of how bad 3.x is.

Rules Compendium - what do we expect?

My guess is we'll see stuff like the revised "polymorph" rules, the new actions (swift, immediate), environment rules from books like Frostburn, and...well, I can't think of much else. I'd like to see the new base classes like the Warlock, Knight, and Scout make it in there, as well as variant...

Old ads from old Dragon mags

I fondly recall Martian Metals' ads on the back of Dragon. They were always upside down. I also really dug some of the ads for Judges Guild adventures. I remember one for what seemed to be a book of quick encounters; the picture was of adventurers climbing around some ruins, with a vine covered...

Rules Compendium - what do we expect?

Actually I expect it to follow the lead of the other compendiums and collate material from the various splat books that have been released, not web-based material.

AD&D 2E Conan 2e Preview and Character Sheet

Actually, it'll be on every other page.

    Gaming stores in Cleveland

I was born and raised in the Cleveland area. I moved away in late 2003. So it's kinda ingrained in me.

    Gaming stores in Cleveland

You have that backward - Willoughby is East Side, Rocky River is West Side. That was Collectors Warehouse. It was my favorite all-purpose game and comic shop for decades - I'd been going there since the mid 80s. They had everything - games, comics, cards, collectibles, movie posters and...

    Dragon & Dungeon Magazine Alternative

Despite Paizo's verbal acrobatics in avoiding the "m" word, Pathfinder strikes me as a magazine. Further, it strikes me as a magazine that combines elements of Dragon and Dungeon - it isn't just adventures. It'll have support material for the adventures, which translates to me as Dragon-like...

Elmore cover art for final issue of Dragon

I didn't notice anyone comparing Elmore's work to anything "hip and now." That was the conclusion you leaped to. Plus the counter to what you're saying is that what's "hip and now" (whatever that means) may well have just as much technical merit - but then it becomes a circular argument, like...

Elmore cover art for final issue of Dragon

Like some others, I've never been a big fan of Elmore's art, but his presence on the last print issue of Dragon is very appropriate. Too bad they didn't get Roger Raupp for one of the last few issues.

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

I agree with this, always have, but I also think that there is room for the buying of magic items. My thoughts on this derive from legends and folktales and more modern "old wives' tales." I see low-level magic items, those with limited use or fairly mild enchantment as being akin to the kind of...

D&D 4E What would you want to see in 4E?

The downside is that going much further will take away pretty much everything that makes D&D, D&D. There are certain things that simply are D&D - classes, levels, hit points, etc. Take those away, and it's not D&D anymore, and probably encroaches upon another game that already exists and does it...

    Dragon #357

I gotta say that the Titan ecology article was cool. The only fault I find in it was its brevity. I'd love to see a sourcebook of Titans along the lines of this article. Perhaps a Titan-themed Adventure Path...?

Holy cow what a cool cover!

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

That's nice to hear. The Knight and The Wizard are some of the finest fantasy books I've read in years. Wolfe's style is often demanding on his reader, but is ultimately rewarding.

    Torg/Master Book RPG system...

By infiniverse, are you talking about how each gaming group could report on what their group accomplished, and the setting as a whole could change depending on how many groups accomplished (or didn't accomplish) something? If so, it was an interesting concept. I get the feeling it would work...

    Torg/Master Book RPG system...

Interestingly, that's the exact same beef I had with with the TORG sourcebooks. It seemed like each book was organized and formatted ad hoc, rather than following a set template. Plus, sometimes it seemed like some basic information was hidden or simply not there - I remember scouring every TORG...

Wizards of the Coast/Kenzer & Company License Agreements Expiring

Sorry to get a little testy up there. It's just that I like HM, parody/satire and all, and I feel that Aldrazar, or Garweeze Wurld, helps anchor the game in its origins, and helps with the immersion into the whole mind set of HM. Using Kalamar, a setting already established and noted for its...

Wizards of the Coast/Kenzer & Company License Agreements Expiring

Uh, yeah, I not only have read it, I OWN both pdfs, and feel Aldrazar is a much better fit because, umm, let's see...oh yeah, it's the setting used in the comic, upon which the game is based. Y'know, I've been a constant champion of HM right from the start. I've bought all the books (I didn't...

Wizards of the Coast/Kenzer & Company License Agreements Expiring

Given that I've been a staunch defender of HM's parody and satire right from the start, no, I'm not "paranoid" that it'll be included. I'm "paranoid" that you guys will cave and get rid of it altogether.
