    Design and Development: Cosmology

I don't know. At first glance, there doesn't seem to be as much flavour to the new planes, except the Elemental Chaos. (Which seems pretty cool.) The Astral Sea seems to combine all the old Outer Planes into one, too. That doesn't seem so bad, as long as there's some variety there.

    D&D 4E 4E Devils vs. Demons article

On the one hand, as a Planescape fan, I'm somewhat opposed to these changes. On the other hand, I've suddenly had so many story ideas from this new cosmology that I have to say I like it. I just hope they don't try to force FR and other settings to fit this new cosmology.

    Gravity

Personally, I hope high-level characters still can do those things. Level 20+ is supposed to be world/planar level threats. Which, I hope, means fighting demons and demigods and such. Those characters should be the Hercules and Xenas, the Beowulfs and the Achilles. Seeing a character capable of...

I think I have finally "put my finger on it"

It is to me. I've mentioned before, D&D is, to me, a lot like the old Hercules and Xena TV shows. Not at all realistic, but fun action/adventure. Things like that are just part of the theme. When I'm feeling like something grittier and more realistic, there's many other game systems (some D20)...

    Will you subscribe to DDI?

This has already been confirmed as no. No idea on these, but if your accounts get hacked that often to be a concern, I'd suggest coming up with new passwords and getting a spyware scanner.

D&D 4E Is 4E winning you or losing you?

I think it's a bit too early to tell. People were just as negative about 3e at this point after announcement. We won't really get a tell of how much people like or hate 4e until after the PHB is out.

D&D 4E Your habits, considering 4e is coming

I actually have a game! The group I used to DM 3.0 for decided to get back together, with 3.5 versions of their old characters, to reach an ending point before the spellplague. Since my current campaign is a 'last hurrah' for 3rd edition in our group, yes, it will be ending about when 4th...

Static Save Defense instead of dynamic saving throws.

But this is not 3e. Assuming 3e balance isn't really effective. I'm guessing, with the new numbers, wizards and fighters will have a damage output that's about on par with each other. (And fighters will get AoE attacks with the polearm, for example.) So, assuming the promises made are...

Static Save Defense instead of dynamic saving throws.

It'll probably still be base attack bonus. So, how would it be any easier for a wizard to stack up their attack bonus than a fighter doing the same thing?

    Will you subscribe to DDI?

Definitely. It's probably my only chance to actually play rather than DM.

    Are Ability scores still dominant?

I've seen you say things like this in a few different threads. Since they've said that 4e level 20s will be slightly more powerful than 3e level 20s, I don't get this. They aren't stretching the old 20 levels into 30, they're adding epic levels into core. *Edit to clarify what part of the post...

    New Design: Wizards...

In City of Heroes it's, fittingly, Blaster. In WoW the Mage is probably what you're referring to, though they can do a lot more than just blast.

    New Design: Wizards...

I think I'll need time to process this. I knew wizards were getting some major changes, but I didn't realize *that* major.

    Advancement even faster?

    Exactly.

    Advancement even faster?

Well, I take the 'year' average with a grain of salt. Using the estimate of 3 or 4 sessions to level up, the average would take the lower. 3 x 20 levels = 60 sessions. Weekly sessions would leave that 8 weeks over a year, close enough to say a year in a podcast. Now, for the new numbers, using 2...

    Advancement even faster?

See, I never played 1st edition. (Nor, actually, have I played 3rd edition more than like 3 sessions, but I have DMed almost constantly.) Maybe if I had, I'd see things differently. However, I see that my group meets up every 2 weeks or so. Sometimes every week but such pace is never steady. So...

    Advancement even faster?

First... how does 2 or 3 sessions between advancement translate to 1 1/2? If you can get nearly twice as much play in as most people, then you should still have time to enjoy those abilities. And, personally, I find doing the same thing over and over again boring. "We just defeated the legions...

    Advancement even faster?

I think you've taken it to extremes, here. The point, as far as I'm concerned, is to watch your character grow. To go from being the simple soldier to the mythical hero. Or to a simple magic student to near godhood. If levelling is too slow, such growth is never seen.
