    How do you Play

We have two games going on currently... Game 1: Star Wars d20 that meets every other Friday from about 8 pm-11 pm. I play a (recent) Jedi Guardian and we have 2 other players and a GM. Game 2: DnD3.5 that meets the same Saturday as the Star Wars game from 10 am-4 pm. I am the DM and we have...

    Do you "tease" your players?

I know what you mean. I have only begun to think of starting games like this since I've been working on an Eberron campaign. I can't believe I didn't do it before.

    Do you "tease" your players?

I've done it a few times in the past, but since we are starting an Eberron campaign, I plan on doing it a lot more. Starting with this weekend, I plan on beginning each session with a "teaser" (ala James Bond) also. I would let you know about this week's teaser, but Dagger75 and MEG Hal are...

    After action debriefings

I read Wil's column in Dungeon where he commented on helping one of the players in his group playtest The Q. Aristocrat and-lo and behold-you are the writer of said book. Pretty cool! About as close to a celebrity in my group is MEG Hal. Wil has a connection to Start Trek-the only thing...

    Necromancer Games: Tough Adventures

The party did as well as they could. It came down to a critical few rolls that did not go their way. My point is that it seemed all the encounters were like that. As for the party makeup, each player had 2 PCS with a total of 8 levels between them and the decision was made by the players. It was...

    Necromancer Games: Tough Adventures

Not a bad idea except that there were a bunch of NPCs along for the ride. The total party consisted of: 1 Bar/Ftr 3/2 1 Wiz(Div) 7 1 War 1 (redshirt) 1 Healer 3 1 Ftr 3 1 Ran 4 1 Clr 2 A couple of missed rolls turned the tide of the battle that resulted in a TPK. If the raging barbarian had...

    Necromancer Games: Tough Adventures

It was even easier than what was written. I substituted the Minotaur (Crylos) for the rest of what was in the "gatehouse". The bugbears and gnolls were the guards and didn't seem to be too much. If only Kolnar had hit Crylos, we wouldn't be having this thread... :(

    Necromancer Games: Tough Adventures

I just finished running The Fane of the Witch King by Necromancer Games and it ended in, not one, but two TPKs. I have plenty of Necro modules and they seem to all have one thing in common: They are very challenging. Each encounter seems to cause the players to expend more resources than is...

    Ars Magic 5th edition

Ars Magica is definitely one of the classics of the RPG community. It does, however, require a very different mindset than D&D. Magi as the undisputed leaders, troupe-style play and a magic system that is totally different are just three major differences. Well worth getting and playing (I have...

    Sharn: How is it?

The soundtrack is easily one of the best ever produced for a game. Not quite up to par with the LotR soundtracks, but very good. The fluff-to-crunch ratio is about 70%-30%. The main reason is because of all the description needed for the various districts, wards and neighborhoods. The...

    Sharn: How is it?

Very good book. The only problem I foresee is digesting all of the districts, wards and neighborhoods. There are literally, hundreds of them. Otherwise, it's close to being one of the best books that WoTC has put out in awhile. BTW, I agee on other people's take on the levels of NPCs-they...
