    D&D Novels- best authors?

Everyone seems to really like "The Legend of Huma." I tried reading that book once or twice, but couldn't get into it. After starting his first Warcraft book and not liking that much either, I gave him up as one of the many medicore authors that write gaming fiction. But from what all of you...

    D&D Novels- best authors?

Oh yeah... I forgot about Paul Kidd. I read a short story by him in Dragon once, and it was awesome. I haven't been able to get my hands on any novels by him, though. I think I saw some at the bookstore the other day. Maybe I'll have to go back. :)

    D&D Novels- best authors?

I think you are thinking of Elaine Cunningham. I've tried several times to read through "Elfshadow" and can never finish it. Maybe her later stuff is better, I dunno.

    D&D Novels- best authors?

Hey all, I was wondering, who do you think are the best authors of the various D&D novels? Personally, I like R.A. Salvatore (esp. the Dark Elf Trilogy), Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman, and Gary Gygax (the Gord the Rogue books I've read were great). But I don't know who else to read. I don't...

    Open D&D Campaigns

Not I. I usually say that only the Core books (3.0, at that) are acceptable, but I will entertain other options on a case by case basis. I like to run more "traditional" games, and random character classes don't fit that mold. In the future I'm thinking of running not so traditional games, so...

    Drizzt The Drow

I used to hate Drizzt, just on principle, because of all the stupid Drow PC's I had seen over the years. Then I read the (early) Drizzt books and I said "Wow! This is great stuff!" I especially liked the Dark Elf Trilogy. I thought it had a lot of great stories, interesting characters, and...

Burning Wheel - Does it appeal to D&D fans?

Burning Wheel is a way fun game. It's got a cool system (although character creation will take a *long* time the first few times you do it) and while it has similiar fantasy motifs, it really is a different type of RPG. The system is decidedly not as combat-focused as D&D. Whereas in D&D...

    Help, my players are scared!

Have NPCs call them wusses and cowards, and have NPCs fight their battles for them (making it clear they get no XP or treasure). <KODT>That should do the trick- I mean, what self respecting PC is going to take that from a NPC loser?</KODT>

A Realization (maybe an epiphany?) about D&D

I've been having great fun with C&C. Although I love playing 3.0. It's just that C&C is soo much easier to DM. The way things are going, I think I run even C&C rules light. :-D

    Boston ENworld Game Day–Mission Accomplished

Apologies: Sadly, I won't be at the gameday. Although it would bring me great joy to meet and game with you all, Saturday is the day after the last day of my girlfriend's first year in law school, and she wants to do something fun together.* She *was* going to go home that day, but recently...

Is it "wrong" to not like other systems?

I love 3E D&D/d20, it's great for running D&D games. I don't think it handles non fantasy stuff well, though. I just don't like having levels/classes in other genres. But I haven't played any non-fantasy games in awhile, so what do I know. :)

How did you arrive at D&D?

When I was in Boy Scout camp some of the older kids were playing it and I thought it was cool, but my mom wouldn't let me play because "those kids do drugs." A year later, I was 13 and a friend was starting up a 2E game and my mom let me play. After that game folded I started running a solo...

"Order of the Stick" book signing - saw lots of EN Worlders!

Um, err. If it's any consolation, I haven't had time to read it much, only the first 20 strips or so. And the bonus stuff, of course. :D In all seriousness, I hope you get your copy soon!

"Order of the Stick" book signing - saw lots of EN Worlders!

I had actually picked it up the Monday before. And put myself over my book-budget. But that's nothing new. That's what I get for working in Harvard square. "Why not stop by Pandemonium on the way home? Oooo, pretty gaming books!"
