    Humans as default

No, this doesn't bother me in the slightest. While I might take issue with a stupid, clumsy elf - or at least, feel that the elf "just wasn't right" - I wouldn't do this with a human. Or, by that same token, wouldn't take issue with a clever, nimble human. I don't think humans are defined by...

Warlord - Inspiring Word/Aid the Injured

My thoughts exactly. While there definitely were times in my first session where an extra healing surge would have been nice, there were just as many times where giving someone a move action would have been just as good. The difference being that move action would probably have circumvented...

Warlord - Inspiring Word/Aid the Injured

All right, so I initially assumed Inspiring Word allows someone to spend a Healing Surge, gain back a 1/4 of their hitpoints and then gain an additional 1d6 hitpoints. But then I look at Aid the Injured and see that it takes a Standard action rather than a Minor one like Inspiring Word, it has...

    Amazon Delay until JULY 22nd

Customer priority, possibly. If you're willing to order months ahead of time, "obviously" you're willing to wait a while longer, whereas someone who orders a few days before the ship date is a little less patient - or possibly willing to cancel the order and not bother purchasing it, ever, as...

    Amazon Delay until JULY 22nd

Yeah, I ordered my Gift Set on May 30th, with free shipping. The initial estimate was delivery for June 10th. Then a few days later Amazon told me June 16th. The actual shipping time, though? My books showed up on June 11th.

The guy who leaked the Core Books was a:

Neither. Just some guy, you know? Seeing as how I preordered yesterday based on flipping through the PDF, though, it hardly strikes me as the worst thing in the world that this was leaked. And, yeah. I probably would have bought the book at a later date, either from browsing at a store or...

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull [spoilers]

She was supposed to be a surprise at first, but Lucas apparently changed his mind and said she was in the film at Comiccon last year. She hasn't really been a surprise since then. And doesn't she also show up on some of the promotional posters?

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull [spoilers]

The movie was flawed on a number of levels and it didn't stand on it's own - the relationship in the movie? Doesn't work on it's own, there's no chemistry, no heat. Anyway. I give it a 5. It had it's moments, but that's about it.

    [Trailer] The Incredible Hulk

The CGI doesn't look all that great. I'm left wondering how Roth's character didn't die after getting kicked like that. All told, the trailer gives me little enthusiasm for the movie.

    What is Rifts like?

Rifts is like a bottle of gin, but a bottle of gin is not like Rifts.

    Iron Man

While I don't think I'd place it higher than Batman Begins, among the Marvel movies, I easily place it above everything except perhaps X-Men 2. And even that's questionable. It was a solid movie all around.

Gandalf - Patient Zero of Bad DMPC Epidemic?

Is he the stereotypical bad DM PC? No. Is he their inspiration? Oh, most definitely. Vis-a-vis, Elminster.

Helm of Opposite Alignment, Efreeti, and You

And those PC's are all probably neutral, no matter what their sheet may say. If your primary motivation is "Killing people and taking their stuff"...you're probably neutral (and possibly evil). Or possibly good, but probably not a paladin. Alignment's good like that. You still can do some evil...

Helm of Opposite Alignment, Efreeti, and You

One act does not an alignment change make. Though to Slife: "'Chaotic' implies freedom." While the Lawful Evil alignment is called the Dominator. Both of these imply, in part, that forcing ones beliefs on others is at least somewhat lawful and a little bit evil. Meanwhile, to everyone...

May Movies - What do you want to see MOST?

I came into this thread with a ready "Iron Man" at my fingers... ...not realizing Indy comes out this month. Bother all. Sooo...I'm not sure. If anything, I want to see whichever one is better the most. I plan on seeing both. I suppose I have slightly higher expectations for Iron Man, though...

Graphic Novels for a 10 Year Old...

Batman Year One, as I recall, features Selina Kyle as a prostitute. It also involves Gordon beating the snot out of another cop (albeit a corrupt one). It's really not a bad book, all things considered, but it does have a few parts that a parent may find slightly questionable. My own...

    Is this offensive?

Offended? No. There are definite biological differences between men and women and trying to suggest otherwise is just silly. We're built differently, physically and mentally - though some of those differences are subtler than others. That said...the idea of stat differences based on sex is...

    Favorite edition of Ravenloft?

3.5 was nothing more than the 3rd edition Ravenloft book with poorly thought out rules and rather clear proof that the designers had no right to work as game developers. Ahem. Anyway. It's a toss-up between Domains of Dread and the 3rd edition book for me. Both were chalk full of information...

    Scarred Lands - beyond Ghelspad?

Yeah, the Mithril book lists a much shorter, more reasonable distance between Ghelspad and Termana. That said, a lot of the geography is just terrible. Shelzar's supposed to be some thriving port city that brings in all sorts of trade - but it's located right in the middle of butt nowhere, not...

    First look at Watchmen characters

Nite-Owl is no more like Batman than Veidt or Rorschach. He's much closer to Ted, though some of the similarities only cropped up with Blue Beetle after Watchmen (namely, the gut and otherwise getting out of shape).
