    Pathfinder 2E Rate Pathfinder 2E

Is 5ed the way people want to play (as in they have tried multiple rulesets and have decided 5ed is their preferred game) or is it that via marketing efforts and Critical Role, 5ed is the first and only ruleset for many if not a majority of 5ed players these days and they just haven't felt a...

    Pathfinder 2E Rate Pathfinder 2E

At lvl 20 you are going to be peforming for Odin or Zeus so yeah an 8 may not cut it. If you are sitting in a tavern trying to impress some farmers maybe have the GM let you do a simple check vs level required check?

    Pathfinder 2E Rate Pathfinder 2E

I rated as Excellent (*) I gave my initial thoughts in the actual GM experience thread after 1 session. The following are my updated thoughts as a GM after 5 sessions and a lot of metagaming and feedback talk with my players. 3 Action Economy: Paradoxically, this system feels more storytelling...

What are the most compelling reasons to switch from PF 1 to PF 2?

As a GM I got the opposite feeling. Each level a PC gets 1 permanent items and 1.5consumables and enough gold to roughly buy 1/2 another permanent item of their level, selling the unwanted magic items with their gold allows for their choice of 1 permanent item of their level. (All roughly...

    D&D 5E (2014) Using Subclasses at Level 1?

Mechanic wise. It wouldn't break anything I suppose. Story wise, which ever table is different. As a GM I try to add in class progression in whichever rules we are using, into the story. Like they find a mentor or It seems a little odd that the backstories are they are brand new lvl 1 beginning...

    Pathfinder 2E The Guardian Murderer

I presume that there is some hard and fast rule that these have to be exactly 4 pages? For some of these like the ancestory mounts this is ok. But in this one it felt like a good idea cramped into too small a page count and the potential quality suffered. It was still good don't get me wrong...

WotC Hasbro Gaming Down 17% But D&D Remains 'Bright Spot'

Half the reason I swing by ENWorld is to see the regular zingers like this from you.

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Previews Hobgoblin Ancestry

CON doesn't get applied to or impact Fortitude, Hustle, Holding breath? INT doesn't give an extra language or extra skills? Look if your GM gives out Identify Alchemy and Identify Magic information out for free as their house rule that's fine but I for one think that's pretty relevant information.

    Fixing/Improving Recall Knowledge

A few of you have brought up this point... Why shouldn't thinking take time? 1 action point is 2 seconds. IRL where we are safe and have no pressure there are plenty of times where we are trying to remember an actor from that one movie and its on the tip of your tongue. Let alone the difficulty...

    Fixing/Improving Recall Knowledge

Where are you getting these limitations from that players cannot do these things? Recall Knowledge is a Concentrate, Secret activity. There is no Visual trait so I would not expect a visual requirement. One scouting PC could describe a flaming skeleton they saw and report back to the party where...

    Fixing/Improving Recall Knowledge

Good stuff! Most d20 based games are combat simulators with non combat skills and activities as an afterthough. I think one of the intents of PF2 is to make skills more important by putting more activities to them vs 1 roll and have the GM tell you stuff. Obviously as we are discussing here...

    Fixing/Improving Recall Knowledge

yes I was obviously spinning hyperbole about lvl 1 stat block commoners defeating lvl 8 immune to non magic weapon or whatever PF2 stat block vampires offer. I didn't think it was necessary to state that but apparently the conversation went in that direction vs the question I asked. I apologize...

    Fixing/Improving Recall Knowledge

Ok I am really curious on this one. You have every peasant farmer child know enough about vampire lore that they know their strengths and weaknesses? Wouldn't that reduce the vampire to more of an annoyance that farmers have to shoo out of their vegetable patches?

    Fixing/Improving Recall Knowledge

to answer my own OP.... 1: I don't think 1 action is all that bad. Its the smallest cost of an action that isn't free and what is more useless, rolling that 3rd strike at -10 or doing a recall knowledge? Your front line meleers need every action for shield use and maneuvering for flank but...

    Fixing/Improving Recall Knowledge

Well RAW and keeping with how PF2 seems to work overall its all or nothing. Failure you don't do "it". Success you to do it. Critical is you do it really well. Other systems do have a the higher total you get the better you do and its a bit more granular type mechanic. If we add it here it would...

    Fixing/Improving Recall Knowledge

CapnZapp made a post about the issues with Recall Knowledge in the GM experience thread and suggested there be a separate discussion. While he can speak for himself, I agree with his points that the Recall Knowledge action and use is pretty light on the rules where as most other parts of the...

    Pathfinder 2 GM Experience

Actually I am itching to ask you why you play PF2. Each post from you seems to be how some rule is the worst possible iteration you have seen in a ruleset or that Paizo should be ashamed to have made PF2 at all. e.g. recall knowledge has a horrific expense and is a complete waste of time...

    Pathfinder 2 GM Experience

Yes there is a difference to some of us between the every edition's DMG fluff section of "This is a roleplaying game and as the DM you can make up your own rules! Here are some possible ideas that you might or might not want to consider at some point if they feel like it" vs "this is the PF2...

    Pathfinder 2 GM Experience

I only played PF1 when it first launched but went back to 3.5. I'm sure Paizo wasn't the first to invent the idea of a secret roll. I'm also sure I encountered them at some point but for whatever reason they didn't resonate with me as they do now.

    Pathfinder 2 GM Experience

Heavy Fall of Plaguestone spoilers below Ran Fall of Plaguestone last Friday for my regular TTRPG group and this was our first time playing PF2. Here are my thoughts as a GM... 1: Crits are deadly. We had a TPK in the first fight. The 2nd level wolf that attacks Bort's merchant caravan got...
