    D&D 5E (2014) Is D&D 90% Combat?

Good roleplaying doesn't require rules, and I've felt with 5e from the beginning has had a much stronger focus on encouraging players to roleplay. I love all those little charts you can pick from/roll on for character back story or motivations (also handy for quickly generating NPCs), even if it...

    D&D 5E (2014) Goblinoids in D&D 5e: Their Origin, Story, and Tragedy (+)

Interesting article! Personally, my headcannon is that goblinoids were unseelie fey who became mortal after somehow wandering from the feywild (or First World or whatever your favorite setting has) to the mortal world and got stuck there, therefore becoming mortal. Granted, I generally consider...

Level Up (A5E) I, for one, am looking forward to Level Up on Fantasy Ground.

Oh, good, I can ask them questions on their 5e forum. Thinking about running Kingmaker on Fantasy Grounds next year once Paizo is able to start fulfilling pledges using A5E and maybe some adapt some 5e Iron Kingdoms stuff. The whole idea is a bit masochistic, but I'm not one to do things the...

Level Up (A5E) I, for one, am looking forward to Level Up on Fantasy Ground.

But I also know how long it can take to develop for that platform, so I'm not expecting it for 1 to 2 years for base functionality, 2 to 4 years for polish. Fortunately 5e is very well supported on Fantasy Grounds and the 5e OGL module should make a great starting point.

    When Fantasy Racism gets stupid

I know I shouldn't be surprised, but it always catches me a little off guard when I say one thing on this forum and then several people extrapolate something completely different - no matter how careful I am about word choice.

    Finally, the Obscure Elements Poll

While I didn't vote for everything, I do think it would be legitemate to have all of the above in a splat sooner or later in some form. One concern I have, though, is it could easily turn 5e into mostly a 'port of what came before. That would get really old, really fast.

I don't like Dragonborn: Please come and bring friends.

Personally? Here's what I'd like to see: Original 1e core races get a standard full page write-up with their stats, followed by a slew of other races with a shorter write-up (say, half a page). Of course, we'll see with the playtest launch on just how much race effects character creation. If...

    When Fantasy Racism gets stupid

I get it - there are folk who love their orcs to be evil and barberous, their drow to be evil, a bit psychotic, and prone to extreme darwinism, etc. I just find it shallow and pedantic. Orcs are more interesting if they're hostile jerks because all the "civilized" races treat their beliefs...

    D&D 5E (2014) Where is D&D Headed Next (Wired.com)

Sounds like they're trying to push back against rule-lawyers. I've gotten scolded a few times by a person or three here on Enworld because I'm a firm believer that a DM should always cheat to make sure rules don't get in the way of fun.

    My grievance with D&D races

I see the Op's point, and wouldn't mind it. Such as may be, players are often more comfortable with racism between fantasy races than between human ethnicities. WotC has little choice but to be a bit politically correct concerning humans - it could easily lead to bad press and other nasty...

    The Return of D20 Modern

Boarstorm: I'd be fine with a 5e d20 Modern released under the Alternity brand. Maybe even a "Spelljammer" splat that could work akin to Urban Arcana.

    The Return of D20 Modern

d20 Modern was great to raid for genre-bending. Maybe they can even break out some of the old TSR brands that they got with D&D. Wasn't Dark Matter based on Alternity or something?

    The Return of D20 Modern

No, I'm not asking for this to be core. But at some point, I'd like a "d20 Modern/Future/Past" version compatable with 5e. Had some fun times genre bending with 3.5. Fun times.

    Presentation! Saga Style

I'm equating George Lucas's demand on the Expanded Universe franchise to remain true to itself (aka - a mostly solid canonical universe, even if there are a few ad-hocs here and there) with the general consistancy of the Forgotten Realms, along with a similar timeline with multiple eras. There...

    Presentation! Saga Style

Well, that's not a very helpful response. I don't care if you disagree, but please be constructive or informative with your disagreement.

D&D 5E (2014) Do we really need D&D:Next to be the One Edition?

I stand by my sig. I also maintain that the "fracturing" of the fanbase was a good thing, stupid internet edition warring aside. Wizards now has to compete - not just with Pathfinder, but also Savage Worlds. People checked out indies and retro clones just for the sake of checking them out. I...

    Presentation! Saga Style

Star Wars Saga - one of the best product lines by WotC, blending 3.5, D20 modern/future, and a few things that were going to end up in 4e. One aspect I really liked about how Saga was handled was in the presentation. I'd like to see something similar with 5e. Step 1: Forgotten Relms treated as...

    Replacing the Encounter Power

The Fighter thing: That isn't a cooldown, that's bonus crit mechanics. The suggestion I had for fighters was based off Ready Actions. Back on topic, why track multiple cooldowns? You choose your ability to use, and then have to wait for the cooldown before using another ability. Only one...

Monte has left the building:How do you feel about the direction of the game?

I think Monte is a good designer who doesn't like to repeat what he's done in the past - but I don't see him as some unfallible deity of game design. Some people have a tendency to over-rate him. Quite honestly, I find it a bit sad that people want to invent drama between Monte and the rest of...

    Replacing the Encounter Power

I'd rather have the option for Bo9S's martial maneuvers over 4e style powers for the fighter, except instead of spending a maneuver or 4e's encounter powers I'd have it that a fighter would have to take a full round action to "set up" the special attack, with feats that could shorten the time to...
