There's A Tales From The Loop Boxed Starter Set Coming

I believe all the same stuff on the loop-rpg site is on the free league site Seems pretty exciting, nice to have a box set for this game.

Star Wars: The High Republic - a new publishing campaign

I'm not sure that makes sense. midichlorians are in all living things. While force-sensitive beings had a higher count of midichlorians, it still took training to gain benefits from them. Maybe always a dip into sorcerer at first few levels, but eventually all multiclassed.

D&D General Worlds of Design: More Human Than Human

I've actually always kind of disliked the concept of "race" in RPGs (or species for that matter). To me, it seems like your cultural background should matter as much as your biological background. Dwarves and Elves often have a racial weapon training as a core part of their race. In 5E, elves...

Star Wars: The High Republic - a new publishing campaign

I saw that there's also still technically a Star Wars movie on the slate for 2022. I wonder if it will follow on from this or be a completely separate thing. Personally, I'd like it to be its own thing if it has to happen.

D&D 5E (2014) Lets talk about getting rid of "recover all spell slots on a long rest"

I don't entirely hate this idea. I'd give it some variance. Switch to a pool, something like spell points. Figure out a die for the spellcasters that works like hit dice. Roll the die and add proficiency and/or spellcasting mod when they rest. Let them recover that many spell points when they...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Subclasses Part III: Artificer, Druid, and Ranger

I don't like Fey Wanderer's Dreadful Strikes requiring a bonus action (even with the caveat for two-weapon fighting). Also, if Shield Master works as based on the Crawford tweet, you wouldn't be able to use the bonus action to get the psychic damage on all attacks, only on the bonus action...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Subclasses Part III: Artificer, Druid, and Ranger

I'm sure similar things have already been said but I love the trend of having alternative uses for Wild Shape. I wish the Land Druid had something like that as well. Maybe if we ever get a revised PHB that could be something they tackle. Could even have slightly different versions for each of...

The Sort of TTRPGs You Want More (and Less) Of

I want more of two types of RPGs. 1. Narrative focused RPGs (the sort where the fiction is put first, and rules are secondary) 2. Tactically-focused RPGs (the sort where character optimization can be fairly detailed) Each of these scratch a particular itch of mine. Setting can be anything for...

D&D 3.x Jonathan Tweet: Third Edition and Per-Day Spells

I love this train of thought. I think it might be a similar train of thought that led to the Focus spells in Pathfinder 2E. These are the encounter powers to match the standard spells (the daily powers). But some classes only get at-wills alongside their encounter powers, and some don't get...

"Your Class is Not Your Character": Is this a real problem?

I think it's more accurate to say that your class doesn't have to define your character if you don't want it to, and that it's also okay to have your class define your character if you want it to, and not everything about your character has to come from your class. But that's a mouthful.

D&D 5E (2014) Best on screen adaptation of the bard (poll)

Miguel from Coco might also be a good example.

D&D General Was The Witcher Inspired by an AD&D Campaign?

My main takeaway is wanting to read his RPG book and being sad that I can't find it translated.

D&D 5E (2014) Paladin Healing vs Cleric Healing

Aura of Vitality is really strong outside of combat. Its worth noting that the class feature variants UA gives the spell to Clerics as well. For most paladins, 3rd level slots are open outside of the desire to smite. So its pretty good. In combat, I think clerics are better off than paladins...

Unearthed Arcana The Unearthed Arcana Is Back With Cleric's Unity Domain!

Ah, I get what you're saying now. Useful feedback to include in the next survey. Myself, I'd allow the creature with resistance to reduce it to 0 as the statement about each creature "taking 1 damage" comes before the statement about resistances. It would be good for them to make it more...

Unearthed Arcana The Unearthed Arcana Is Back With Cleric's Unity Domain!

PHB page 7. There’s one more general rule you need to know at the outset. Whenever you divide a number in the game, round down if you end up with a fraction, even if the fraction is one-half or greater. Also a relevant SA post. https://www.sageadvice.eu/2015/06/09/0-damage-resistance/

Unearthed Arcana The Unearthed Arcana Is Back With Cleric's Unity Domain!

I like everything here, and I like it slightly more than I did in the version we previously saw. I also still think that Ceremony should be a domain spell for this domain, it fits at least as well as for Love.

Unearthed Arcana WotC Removes Latest Unearthed Arcana

We don't know that the version that was posted was meant to, and we probably won't ever know for sure. They may have already planned changes to the document before it had been discovered. They might not have. Either way, I have no issue with the changes made.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Four New Subclasses

https://media.wizards.com/2020/dnd/downloads/UA2020_02_06_Subclasses2.pdf It's there again. Love is now Unity. The stalkery feature replaced with a sharing damage CD. They moved Creation's pet feature to 6, no longer reliant on the creation feature. Clockwork's advantage/disadvantage feature...

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana - Subclasses 2 [UPDATED]

Healing potions would be out, as it can't be magical. As for the rest, I'd probably allow it as long as it fits into the rest of the rules of the feature as I think if they're going to waste 10 minutes to make a bag of caltrops, they should be able to. There might be more problematic options...
