Example races built using the race design system

Regarding the costs, Coronoides has explained several times (including in the OP of the other thread and in the PDF) that by his system, all races have to be equal or it doesn't work. He does try to be logical about things where he can (though things like the Hill Dwarf HP are impossible if he...

D&D 5E (2014) So what happens when a non Drow attempts to become a dryder?

It seems that I dragged this thread off topic with my confusion as to why being a Drider is a curse. Sorry about that. Back on topic, I don't think that the OP should make the player characters Driders, but if the OP does want to make them spider-like, they could hand out this feat I made (of...

D&D 5E (2014) So what happens when a non Drow attempts to become a dryder?

This. I only provided a means for if the OP was dead set on this path, as players can get pretty upset if their characters can't do something (I have learned this very quickly in my short time DMing). 1) Why was it set that way though. I understand that that is how it has existed, but that...

    D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] Power Overwhelming: A Sorcerer Guide

Its not necessarily more important, but a large majority of the vocal playerbase seem to believe that the sorcerer getting these spells is the nicest feature. TBH, I think the armour is the most important feature of this class, as it increases the survivability of the d6-HD class

D&D 5E (2014) So what happens when a non Drow attempts to become a dryder?

Yeah. It confuses me as to why they are cursed. If they look like her, shouldn't they be revered by the Drow as embodiments of the evil of Lolth.

    D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] Power Overwhelming: A Sorcerer Guide

Favoured Soul is golden by virtue of the fact that it gets to know 25 spells (the standard 15 + the 10 domain spells), but most of the other stuff is at least light blue, so it is al around very good.

D&D 5E (2014) So what happens when a non Drow attempts to become a dryder?

Driders are Drow cursed by Lolth. Therefore, non-Drow cannot become Driders. If in your world this is not the case, I would just not include the event or, if you really wanted to make them driders, and they don't mind a race change...

Example races built using the race design system

The option of a dexterity boost and the acrobatics proficiency sounds best, replacing the spell resistance, (I don't know muck about prior edition races in MMs*, but the 5e MM doesn't give the Gith spell resistance, so I'd remove it). At the risk of being incredibly confusing, for the stat...

Example races built using the race design system

That seems like a good idea. Perhaps "Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Charisma or Wisdom increases by 1." is a simpler solution. Fair enough. With the stat increases, perhaps +2 Int, +1 Wis if you are githyanki, +1 Int, +2 Wis if you are githzerai, as the Githzerai seem more...

Example races built using the race design system

I'm fine with constitution, but Charisma is their lowest stat in the MM (ignoring the warlord and captain, who are specific examples of hobgoblins, not the hobgoblin race as a whole), with a 9. Strength or Dexterity are better choices than Charisma by far. IMHO, Charisma is the least useful...

Example races built using the race design system

I agree. That looks like a nice all-round race to me. If one of my players wanted to be a hobgoblin, I would probably have made something very similar to this (I might have had different score increases though)

Race creation system reverse engineered and 38 example races in short form

Well, most people aren't going to meticulously go through every single cell to spot typos and whatnot. I only discovered it because I was making a subrace of elf that didn't use standard elf weapon training, but one that had training with a simple melee, martial melee, and martial ranged, which...

D&D 5E (2014) Barbarians: Why Rage per Day?

I think that most players would prefer that they had more control over their character, so that is likely why very few are on your side (If you read my earlier post, you will see that I have suggested that your idea be put into the berserker subclass (as they would be going berserk).

Undying Light Warlock versus Favored Soul Sorcerer

First of all, is your DM allowing UA material? That aside, Undying Light Warlock is generally considered very broken (particularly because of their Searing Vengeance). With their boost to the GFB cantrip (+Cha to all fire damage) Undying Light warlock is definitely the better choice IMO...

D&D 5E (2014) DMs, how are you managing the Lucky feat?

At my table I ask "Does <insert attack roll result here> hit you?" The player says yes, no, or they choose to expend a luck point if they have the Lucky feat. Once I start rolling damage, the window of opportunity for "before the outcome is determined" part. If My monster crits, I still haven't...

D&D 5E (2014) Barbarians: Why Rage per Day?

You are forgetting that fighters have the ability to get a second action in a turn (Action Surge), bringing that up to 6 swings of the axe, or shots of the bow. On topic, I like rage the way it is, but if I were to make a change, I would make Path of the Berserker barbarians have a chance to be...

Race creation system reverse engineered and 38 example races in short form

Hey. I've just noticed that you have priced the Elf Weapon Training trait (2 martial melee, 1 martial ranged, 1 simple ranged) as 2pt (for 2 simple melee (2*0.25pt), 1 martial range (1pt), 1 simple ranged (0.5pt)), when it should be 3pt (two martial melee (2*0.75pt), 1 martial ranged (1pt), and...

Example races built using the race design system

Here are a couple of elvish options: one for those who what the Charisma bonus gained by Drow but no hate against your race - the Avariel, or winged elf; and an option for those who want to play a noble drow who can levitate. AVARIEL (WINGED ELF) ** Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score...

Example races built using the race design system

Elves get a +2 Dex at base, so these Asrai overall get a +3 to Dex. You should probably change it's bonus to Wis Cha, Str or Con (There already being 2 subraces that get Int) EDIT: I have added a dive feature to the Dragonborn of Bahamut (Wings) feat.

    Tiefling Variants

This is a pretty cool concept. I would let my players use the ones you have suggested (Spawn of Orcus seems especially cool), and would suggest that the appearances of such variant teiflings being different, such as Spawn of Orcus looking somewhat undead.
