    spontaneous mystic theurge?

I'm wondering if there's an equivalent of the Mystic Theurge for spontaneous spellcasters -- specifically, something like a Favored Soul/Battle Sorcerer combo. If not, what would you give for hit dice, BAB, and saves if you took the Mystic Theurge and specified spontaneous casting? It removes...

    Help us help you

Be sure to plan for storage of any terrain you might be providing for wargame tourneys. If you don't have a designated storage space, terrain can get beat up pretty quickly. If you plan to host d20 games, battlemats of some sort would be a good idea. Other stuff that's useful for long...

    Steve's 3e character generator

I just tried this with OpenOffice.org's spreadsheet, and it appears that the dropdowns do not work correctly. Has anyone successfully used this with OO.o?

Wanted some opinions on these maps... (Updated 4-16-04, 8 villages and a city!)

From the lack of fortifications, I take it the enemy was totally exterminated.... I don't think it looks like a typical medieval setting. Given that, I think you might want to have the text emphasize the historical context for each map.

Got a sawtooth box here, though it's mostly the spouse unit's box. :) Something you might find useful: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22744

My daughter is named after my wife's first PC!

    > I have a friend who named *himself* after his D&D character. Heh. My first AD&D character's name became my computer ID in college. As it happened, my advisor's wife and I had the same given name. When he went through a messy divorce, he started calling me by my computer ID name (and we were...

Where to get a publishable map of Washington DC?

Try here: http://www.loc.gov/rr/geogmap/ ...otherwise, it depends, somewhat, on what era you want to portray, what area you want to show, etc. I suspect you're more likely to find older maps, rather than newer maps, in the public domain. For current stuff, check the USGS copyrights and terms of...

Wanted some opinions on these maps... (Updated 4-16-04, 8 villages and a city!)

Just found this thread... What is your reasoning behind the layouts of the villages that seem like modern suburban subdivisions?

    DragonMech Cover Art and Gallery

Take a page from TSR/WotC history... you don't need to make the whole book full-color; just add a few color plates. Might be a good compromise on the color-vs-cost front.

WotC IP and campaign websites - how do I not step on the Wizard's toes?

My suggestion: rename everything you're concerned about. The creatures you mention could conceivably be called thuulans, for example. If you go back to the original sources and create a variant spelling on creature names, you should be safe. Another tactic is to reconsider what the creature *is*...

    Why are pdf's named so?

There's no real reason to be restricted to 8.3 anymore. That's an artifact from MS-DOS days, and there really isn't an easy way to get a useful PDF reader on a system that is limited to 8.3 filenames. PDF is an acronym for "portable document format".

    Initial Print Runs

I can't give you any answers, but I can tell you some things you need to think about: What is the minimum turn-around time, from the time you say "go" until the books hit the shelves, for a given print run? For example, suppose you do a small initial run of 500. Then suppose that it sells...

    Which Grammar book to get?

First pick: Strunk and White. It has the advantage of being short compared to most other books of the type: you're much more likely to actually read the whole thing. It has the additional advantage of being cheaper than most of the bigger books, and you're more likely to find a copy of it in a...

    Monk Code of Honour?

To me, that's a mix of Lawful and Chaotic Neutral. From PH, p. 103: "Lawful characters tell the truth, keep their word, respect authority.... Chaotic characters follow their conscience, resent being told what to do.... 'Law' implies... obedience to athority...." A bit farther down, there's...

    Define "___-edition feel"?

What, exactly, gives something "first-edition feel"? What qualities do you look for before you describe a module, setting, or whatever as having "first edition feel"? What about "second-edition feel"? Or "third-edition feel"? What are the characteristics of each of these? I ask because I'm...

    Monk Code of Honour?

I've found several codes for Lawful Good, and some for Lawful Evil, but none for Lawful Neutral. Any suggestions? Or do you just take one of the above, and throw in the occaisional evil deed to balance things? (That, I'd rather avoid.)
