    Non spellcasting healer

AEG has a couple of non-cleric healer variants in Secrets. Called Chaplains (there are two variants), the first is a field medic and the second specialises in longterm care. They have an average BAB, good Fort and Will saves, and receive abilities such as Healing Touch (a full-round action to...

The other War of the Worlds movie that is coming out this year.

Alas, Tom Cruise will rake in the big bucks while a probably superior film will fall by the wayside.

What do you do when a PC dies because of a bad dice roll?

That's pretty much the responce I'd give. The only time I go easy vis-a-vis PC death is if I'm the cause (ie, I goofed by throwing something way too powerful at the party without an in-game hint, accidentally made a DC too high, etc).

    The (new) ENworlder age poll!

26 and I've been playing half my life. In fact, almost 13 years to the day (well, month [March], I can't remember what day I started playing).

Anyone else find it annoying to figure out skills for NPCs?

My biggest problem with skill points and NPCs is that I either have too many skill points or not enough. With PCs, there are never too many skill points.

Which Complete book is the best?

I was pleased with the series; it is certainly better than the 3.0 splatbooks. I voted for the Complete Divine, although it must be said that I've gotten into clerics and favoured souls recently (undead heavy campaign). I really enjoyed the warlock, scout and swashbuckler, and I was especially...

    Lovecraft: Hack or Genius?

Someone made the comment that HLP was a writer's writer, which is very true. His literary criticisms were excellent and his skill as an editor meant that many writers and would-be writers sought his advice (August Derleth, Robert Bloch, etc). However, these skills were never successfully...

What Race Do You Usually Play?

I generally DM. In the last campaign in which I was a player, I began as an elf and finished as a dwarf (due to the elf's death, not magic - or surgery!)

Looking for D20 Masque of the Red Death Character Sheets

I'm hoping to run a D20 Masque of the Red Death sometime in late February for my local gaming group. In preparation, I'm trying to find some character sheets but am hitting a brick wall. (I'm no good a designing my own sheets.) Has anyone seen MotRD character sheets - decent or otherwise -...

    Changing Class Skills

I like this. I may have to import it into my campaign :)

    Lighthearted character names?

The first 3.0 game I DMed, the party bought a mule and named it Lucky. (The die used to represent Lucky on the battlemat was a player's lucky die throughout 2nd Ed.) Lucky survived fireballs, poison needle traps, rampaging trolls and the BBEG Mran. Even when half of the party lay dead on the...

    Rate Class Balance

That's quite true. I recently began DM RttToH for my players. Everyone built PCs from scratch whilst I offered suggestions regarding usefulness of feats/skills/classes/PrC/spells/etc. While ultimately it was up to the players to take or discard my advice, we managed to avoid some potential...

LG? Might as well play a paladin.

I'm currently playing a LG dwarven evoker.

    Races of Destiny: Buying/Bought?

I bought it and am disappointed that I did so. I can't wait for Complete Adventurer.

Fantasy and Science Fiction ~ What separates them from 'normal' literature?

The suspension of disbelief required by SF is considerably less than that required by fantasy literature. For instance, Frankenstein, the earliest English-language SF novel, is highly plausible IN ACCORDANCE WITH EARLY NINETEENTH-CENTURY SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE. The reanimation of dead flesh via...

The 7 wonders of the (homebrew) world

The Gates of Dhar - a pair of huge dwarven-built stone doors (500ft high, 50ft wide and 30 feet deep) which separate the Ara Desert from the Green Lands. The Hall of the Ancients - the ancestral Thing (assembly) of the mountain dwarves. The Bridge of Forh - an elven-built bridge, constructed...

    Do You Allow Evil PCs?

I permitted evil PCs for a brief period. However, those who attempted to play evil characters ended up trying to out-kill one another (someone else in this thread mentioned attemtps to rake up the highest dead granny count - that's what happened to me). Since that time, I've disallowed evil...
