    D&D 5E (2014) Dual Wielder Feat Fix

You can do that now with the feat as is. TWF as a whole was probably the single player concept I spent the most time on coming up with new rules that both empowered players who wanted to choose this style and kept it within a reasonable damage range. The current version I use: Base rule...

    D&D 5E (2014) Defensive Duelist fix?

Oh yeah the save boost is amazing. Bonuses like that are extremely rare and saves also don't have critical threshold to worried about. One of my "plan to play whenever I get to actually play" PCs is a hobgoblin battle smith/ war wizard with saves that would make a pally jealous.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you make your familiars into NPCs/sidekicks?

How would familiars be considered NPCs? They are literally characters that are creating and played by the players. Much like any PC the amount of depth and and general thought put into them are going to vary person to person.

    D&D 5E (2014) Defensive Duelist fix?

It should be noted that arcane deflections AC boost is also only for a single attack or ST. It's a lot like defensive duelist where the value is going to vary based on table style of play. Against a single ogre both are amazing. Less so vs 4 goblins who decided you where the best target to pin...

D&D 5E (2014) Thief Rogue throwing Ball Bearings everywhere

Melted iron was well within the technology well before any time that is commonly considered medieval. The largest limiting factor was actually the formation of workable iron stock. the smelting techniques at the time were so inefficient the loss of materials during the process made iron a very...

    D&D 5E (2014) Defensive Duelist fix?

Not a bad idea. It would function like a pseudo multiattack defense.

    D&D 5E (2014) Defensive Duelist fix?

Defensive duelist only works for a single attack where shield applies to all attacks until the start of the next turn. Not really the same thing.

    D&D 5E (2014) Defensive Duelist fix?

I don't necessarily think it's weak but I don't think it's worth a whole feat. I just added it as a special weapon tag on certain weapons so players can choose to have the option without a large opportunity cost. The 13 Dex prerequisite stays and so far I have daggers without the thrown...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dual Wielder Feat Fix

It isn't limited to one weapon if you make the attack with the PaM weapon the ba attack then the extra attack from TWF feat.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dual Wielder Feat Fix

Unintentionally this would mean that you could stack twf and PaM.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e: how CC spells affect monster's CR?

Don't put too much thought into it. CR is at best a rough outline of how challenging or deadly any particular npc is. As a general rule be wary of anything that denies action on the players part. Reducing options and interfering with their options is fine but man does it blow to wait 5 minutes...

D&D 5E (2014) Thief Rogue throwing Ball Bearings everywhere

Could just jump out of the area with the ball bearings. The area isn't that large.

D&D 5E (2014) What does "Railroading" actually mean!? Discount Code on Page 8

railroading is the lack of player /character agency. You can have a very linear campaign-style that's not and you can have a sandbox that is 100% railroading. Meaningful choices and consequences are really all that are needed to prevent railroading.

    D&D 5E (2014) Best alchemist build

Few notes here. you can't technically stockpile your elixirs because they reset at the end of a long rest so unless they are practicing a coffelock style tactic it doesn't work. Also, while the cantrips effected by alchemist savant are not limited to artificer spells directly it is...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best alchemist build

I think that comes down to play style. in games where conditions are just as threatening as HP attrition I've always seen it prepared to the point where it's considered equally valuable to healing word.

    D&D 5E (2014) Best alchemist build

Battle smith does get aura of vitality which is a pretty big in and out of combat recovery tool. Neither have the slots available to use spells for HP recovery outside of the most dire circumstances. The handful of free lesser restoration is nice but can be emulated by the SSI if you really...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best alchemist build

The protection cannon isn't necessarily effective healing but it is amazing damage mitigation and regardless of how "smart" the DM decides to play the NPCs the cannon forces them to alter from whatever their primary strategy was. Heck just using the Cannon to max out the THP at the start of a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best alchemist build

Yes. If the experimental elixirs weren't gambling I could actually see playing one of these just for those effects even if they don't scale. That and if the wording was better so you can administer them to somebody who was still conscious.

    D&D 5E (2014) Best alchemist build

Both the artillerist and battle Smith are strong stand alone options. The alchemist is the one that has me pondering. It's seems it like the beast master where it might take a fair amount of planning to not feel like a lump. Arguably the base class is strong enough to prevent this from happening...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best alchemist build

It's a fun idea but any artificer can pull this off and artillerist can do it a little better with Arcane firearm. If the wording of savant was a little looser so it worked with items or damage from spells on following turns/rounds like flame sphere.
