    D&D General Which BG3 companion?

I keep my games PG, so from what I've heard, none of them.

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards have a problem with Spellcasting stat blocks

That's how I do my monster statblocks. 2 Hold Person (C up to 1 min, 90', 1 target, Wis or paralyzed, save at end of turn, upcast +1/level within 30') 3 Fireball (150', 20' radius, 8d6 fire, Dex half)

    D&D 5E (2014) Level 20, no class higher than 12 (edited!)

Fighter 12/War Wizard 8 (for 2 ASIs) or Figher 11/War Wizard 9 (for 5th level spells known). You get 3 attacks per round (and maybe a 4th if you dual wield, PAM, etc.), and a good amount of ASIs/feats. You know spells up to 4th level, so you can cast Dimension Door and move yourself anywhere...

D&D 5E (2014) Not upgrading? What version of D&D 5e are you sticking with?

5.05? PHB, XGTE, TCE (with 3 subclass bans; no Custom Origin). Nothing past Tasha's, with the exception of dragonborn to use their breath attack as part of the attack action. Plus some houseruled class changes, one or two of which were stolen from pre-5.24 UA.

Don't pay the party in gold [article link]

Pay them in silver instead! From Bret Devereaux: https://acoup.blog/2025/01/03/collections-coinage-and-the-tyranny-of-fantasy-gold/ There's a level 0 to 5 campaign idea in here, where the PCs go from level 0 commoners to landed warriors with good gear. Add a couple of layers of magic items in...

D&D 5E (2014) (Homebrew) Which Must Have 1st-Level Spell? (by class)

Bard: Charm Person, Command, Healing Word [theme: words] Cleric: Bane, Bless, Cure Wounds [theme: blessings & their reverse; Inflict Wounds could go here as well] Druid: Entangle, Faerie Fire, Thunderwave [theme: elements/nature] Paladin: Compelled Duel, Shield of Faith, Thundering Smite...

    Art for DM's Guild publications

You're not entirely wrong with that interpretation! This is just a hobby I'm doing for fun and creativity; if it becomes too much work, it's definitely not worth it to me. However, if I'm doing something, I want to do it well. I might do better trying to find whoever is publishing...

    Art for DM's Guild publications

Thank you Morrus! Yes, the DM's Guild does allow use of art from a certain subset of books, and has consolidated that art into several free ZIP files. It's primarily from 3.0/3.5 books; I have recognized pieces from Libris Mortis, BOVD, and one of the Monster Manuals. It's pretty slim...

    Art for DM's Guild publications

I know some people are putting out full-fledged illustrated books on the DM's Guild, complete with lots of art. Examples include the Hell-themed Asmodeus one last year, the Honkonomicon, and more. At the high end with the right team and a near-guarantee of selling a couple of thousand copies...

D&D General I spent how much? How much did you spend in 2024.

I suppose I should answer the OP question. BricksandMinifigs world record attempt $20 [also got 2 lego minis out of it and a nice eyeball d20] Dice for my 8 year old (bday & Christmas, total 3 sets and a bag) about $50 Dice for my 10 year old - Dice of Rolling and 1 set about $50* Minis...

D&D 5E (2014) What Level is the Party after 56 Sessions?

Castle Dracula (combat heavy, each level with XP = to levelup for a 5 man party): 3 to 13 in 23 sessions. Against the Idol of the Sun (hexcrawl) 13 to 20 + 1 or 2 epic boons in about 40 sessions. Baldur's Gate 2 (story/milestone progression with a lot of side trips, not tracking XP at all): 1...

Thank you. I just ordered these, as well as one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YS1S83X/

D&D General I spent how much? How much did you spend in 2024.

What are the templates you speak of? I am starting to think that spending $20 or $30 on some plexiglass/lexan spell area templates would be really helpful for some of my players.

    D&D 5E (2024) New Year Wishes For D&D in 2025?

I want DND Beyond to add a "Hide 2024 rules" checkbox to the character creation tool. It's making character creation/playing around with bought content really annoying, and confusing for players who aren't as detail-oriented or tech-savvy (I have real life examples).

D&D 5E (2014) Player wants to be a Death Knight but will use official rules: Build Help

Paladin still has less magic than a Hexblade. I'd just go straight Paladin with some flavor of undead (Reborn or homebrew, easy enough to do).

D&D 5E (2014) Player wants to be a Death Knight but will use official rules: Build Help

For those of us who haven't played WOW, can you give a brief description of what the fantasy of a Death Knight entails? I assume it's some sort of heavy armor undead, but beyond that I'm not sure. Usually a Death Knight is an undead paladin equivalent, isn't it?

D&D General 5e Wands with finite charges?

Yes, I'm mostly using wands with charges that can't be refilled at this point. Handing out a Wand of Magic Missile 7x/day or Fireball 7x/day or whatever felt like a bit too much.

D&D 5E (2014) Magic Resistance: What was Old is New

That works pretty well, but I'm concerned about the interaction with AC. Taking my drow warriors up-thread as an example (with +2 plate/+3 shield and 25 AC), a +10 gives them a 35 AC, making them immune to any spell attack that's not a natural 20 (natural character max is +15 to hit with a tome...

D&D 5E (2014) Magic Resistance: What was Old is New

Here's what I used. The statblocks are very abbreviated because I have no plans to publish. BG2 Drow All drow have +10 on saves vs. magic. Drow Adamantine gear: Magic, not immune to critical hits. Longsword +3 Plate +2 (AC 20) Adamantium Shield +3 Elven Chain +3 (AC 16+dex max 2) Light...

D&D 5E (2014) Magic Resistance: What was Old is New

I went for a simpler version for my Baldur's Gate II campaign. Every 5% of magic resistance is +1 to saves against spells. The drow mercs the party faced in the Underdark had +10 on saves vs. spells. It adequately simulates the original "My magic isn't very effective!" problem without adding...
