    D&D 4E 4e Magic: The De-Science-ing?

At first I agreed with this sentiment, but then I realized that to me it's not true. I want the NPC wizards to be able to do things that I can't do. Then, I want to dissect their spellbooks and learn how they did it. Its good to run up against crazy wizard powers. As long as it isn't just a...

    D&D 4E 4e Magic: The De-Science-ing?

Not really what I meant. Of course, we'll understand the Hidden Flame talent tree. We'll know the spells in the spellbook. From a crunch point of view, the spells will be just as known. From a fluff point of view, it seems like we're going to have something more like monastic orders of magic...

    D&D 4E 4e Magic: The De-Science-ing?

It seems as though 3.5e magic is practically a science. Eight schools of magic, divided into scientific names. Get your elementals and your gears, we're taking a ride on the lightning railroad. At your local Wizmart, +1 will cost you 1500 gp, and your bag of holding comes in three sizes (wee...

    New Design: Wizards...

For the surreptitious caster, it really depends on how effective "still effective" is, doesn't it? I suppose it can't be that much worse than the old metamagic "give up a spell level if you don't want to have a component" way of doing things. I do really like the flavor of this. As a wizard in...

    New Design: Wizards...

I love it, but I'd prefer some tweaks. Haven't read the whole thread yet, but the biggest problem I see with this is the surreptitious caster. Suppose you want someone of the "enchanter" archetype. Victim: "You'll never get me to agree!" Villain: "I'm going to charm you now... hang on...

    Gnomes got the SHAFT!

Rangers had the shaft. Rangers are archery experts. Gnomes have now received the shaft. I think the rangers might have killed the gnomes...

    Will Favored Classes Remain?

Talent Trees are definitely the way to deal with it. XP penalties are arbitrary unfun suckage.

    First baby steps

I, too, have IE6 (company prevents me from upgrading yet). The front page is VERY difficult to read with the white square panels... But I guess you know the problem exists.

D&D 4E Chuck Norris to be in the 4e Core Pantheon

When Chuck Norris uses double entendres, he doesn't get a -2 to each one. :)

D&D 4E Chuck Norris to be in the 4e Core Pantheon

Chuck Norris was featured in two D&D adventures: "C1: Against the Chuck" and "C2: Chuck on the Borderlands." No one has ever beaten either of them. Chuck Norris once went through the Tomb of Horrors. His favorite part was the jewel-encrusted chamberpot at the end.

D&D 4E Chuck Norris to be in the 4e Core Pantheon

You know, I was really trying to go there too... I just couldn't really think of a good way of doing it. :) Chuck Norris eats spheres of annihilation for breakfast. Mmmmm. Spherrios. When a druid wants a wooden staff, he casts Shillelagh. When Chuck Norris wants a wooden staff, he beats...

D&D 4E Chuck Norris to be in the 4e Core Pantheon

All of Chuck Norris' actions are swift actions. Chuck Norris walks in 5-foot steps. Chuck Norris doesn't wear armor. Unless you count sweaters. Vecna once looked at Chuck Norris funny, so Chuck ripped out his eye. Vecna wanted his eye back, so he challenged Chuck Norris to an armwrestling...

Getting randomized miniatures from online boosters- Get real

I think you'd lose that bet. Unless you're counting things like: Wolf. Bigger wolf. Even Bigger Wolf. Even then, I'm not sure they reach the several hundreds. if there were 20 unique creatures per area (very generous) 20 areas or so. And no duplicates (Ha!) You'd only have 400 monsters.

I think everyone agrees about that.

    New Design article: Elves

Blerg. The text itself I find really kind of awkward and annoying. Also, wood/wild elves as the default elf race? Hmmm... That was always kind of the odd offshoot of the race to me. I guess if the eladrin are in, they're going to be the high elf type, so they don't need two races in the...

Getting randomized miniatures from online boosters- Get real

Get serious. How many enemies do you face in quake? Maybe 10-20 different models? How many miniature models would you like to see for the DDI? If you're happy with 10-20, great. But that isn't going to satisfy most people. To cover the MMI, you'll need hundreds of models. Do you think the...

D&D 4E Chuck Norris to be in the 4e Core Pantheon

All paladins of Chuck Norris multiclass Ranger. Chuck Norris' clerics can choose between the domains of Chewing Bubblegum and Kicking Ass. Chuck Norris is the reason Ilmater suffers. Once, Chuck Norris and Cthulu met. Chuck Norris roundhouse kicked Cthulu so hard that he popped out of the...

Getting randomized miniatures from online boosters- Get real

Well, if you want to use a miniature, you just have to own the miniature. Likewise, if your player wants to see the miniature... he'll have to own the miniature too. The pricing could be even worse. :heh: Personally, I'd be fine if there were non-randomized online miniature "packs" that...
