    1001 Foolproof Trolls

The Knights of the Dinner Table magazine puts (or used to put; I have read it in a while) a controversial question to gamers, then prints reponses in the following magazine. I don't have easy access to them right now, but the only one that I can recall right now is "Real Dwarven women have...

Why the assumption that epic levels are purely optional?

The epic rules have been updated to 3.5 in the SRD. You can consider that section the 3.5 epic book.

    Illusion your best idea

Yes, and since incorporeal beings generate no sound (unless they want to) you can use silent image to do this effectively.

    Meepo in town?

If you have a PC that has been putting ranks in the social skills, this would be a great time to put that Diplomacy check to work.

    Inside Joke or Insidious Joke

Polymorph any object could have petrified a planetar, I believe. As far as WotC's intent, I think that was an oversight.

    Arcane Archer question

You are already paying a feat slot for it. I think it works fine as is. And there are many feats that work only for characters of one class.

    I just can't focus

To analyze players and determine what they want and don't want, the first chapter of the Dungeon Master's Guide II is very insightful in typing your players, and it gives great advice about how to meet their gaming desires. It was primarily written by Robin D. Laws, whose book on DM listed in my...

    Nuclear weapons of D&D Rules

In my game, Mordenkainen's Funkiller (aka disjunction) is replaced by a 9th level dispel magic that lets you target 1 target per level, like the eighth level spell in the PH II, but widened to targets being 60 ft. from each other. It also can reverse one effect that would normally require a wish...

    Napoleon Dynamite

I loved the movie. I use this movie to demonstrate what a 3 or 4 Charisma is like. The main characters are my new Iconic 3 CHA.

Under the Sea.. Under the Sea!

This is not covered in the rules. I house rule that you can cast one spell with a verbal component, but you start drowning the following round. There's no problem spellcasting if you can breathe water. I prefer the idea of being able to drink a potion underwater and use scrolls, and that scrolls...

    Hydra heads

I agree with you there, even if it's not supported by the rules. Seven saves against seven 3d6 cold attacks is more appropriate for a ~CR 6 encounter than one save vs. 21d6 cold attack. Here's a couple of threads on this particular encounter in SC... The Cryohydra a TPK? Pit of Seven Jaws in...

How do I add a custom status to my profile?

I have a community supporter account. I went to My Account > Edit My Profile but did not find a Custom User Text field. Did I do it wrong, or does this feature need to be turned on my account?

    Sell me on Arcana Evolved.

One thing I especially like: All spellcasters can cast healing spells. Healing is no longer the domain (and responsibility) of the divine caster. No one has to play the cleric.
