    Cthulu? Wtf..?

Don't think anyone has mentioned the Alienist prestige class - very Cthulu/Elder Godsish.

    Midkemia D20

Artificer seems like a natural for the Lesser path (wish I could take credit for that) especially as Lesser path magicians are known for their creation of magic items. Still haven't figured out how to Sorcery, Wizardry and Specialist Wizardry all fit into the Greater Path. Wasn't there a...

    Cleric Feats

My apologies for saying this, but I think that's a terrible idea for a melee focused cleric. This character is better off putting the 15 in Str and wearing heavy armor. I don't think you cover a weakness (low Ref progression) by throwing a good stat at it - its like putting lipstick on a pig...

Fixing the Half Orc ('cause they're broken)

Could? The weapons master could have trained him in the traditional soldierly ways (sword and board) and, seeing how strong this pupil was becoming, gave him a bastard sword so that he could take advantage of his natural gifts. The irony of his use of a bastard sword, which he always calls a...

Fixing the Half Orc ('cause they're broken)

Rats - I need to type faster - you beat me to the punch on this one! I considered this, but rejected it for the main reason that we have to consider that a large number of half-orcs (I'd argue the majority) are not raised by orcs - but by humans or some other civilized race. I think its safe...

Fixing the Half Orc ('cause they're broken)

Do full blooded Orcs have access to scent as a feat? AFAIK they don't. If neither orcs nor humans can do that, why should a half-orc? It feels a bit too arbitrary of a power boost to me. Forgive me for tooting my own horn, but I really like my weapon affinity rule. There are precedents for...

Why Doesn't the Cleric have Cat's Grace? (2002 Thread!)

Ahh, it all makes sense now. The missing ingrediant was the realization that I'm an idiot!!! I had read it as picking the stat when you picked the ability - and then implied, since it was being offered as an alternative to the six spells, that you would always be locked into that version.

Why Doesn't the Cleric have Cat's Grace? (2002 Thread!)

Doh! Yeah, now that I think about it, I think I do remember one of the changes to 3.5 being that Wizards and Sorc's got all the buff spells on their list and everyone else got 4 ... I remember liking that change :D

Why Doesn't the Cleric have Cat's Grace? (2002 Thread!)

Please explain the rationale behind limiting a Wizard this way? Its completely antithetical to the way their magic works (i.e. as many spells in their little spell books as they can get their grubby hands on). "Boy, I'd love to learn Fox's Cunning but I already have Cat's Grace in my...

    Cleric Feats

Isn't that a relatively apt description of St. Cuthbert himself? :) No one should be told to play a support healing cleric if that isn't what they want to. If the party, needs a heal-bot you're better off just having an NPC in the party so that all the players remain engaged and interested in...

Why Doesn't the Cleric have Cat's Grace? (2002 Thread!)

Say what? They do? Did I miss an errata? I didn't think Clerics got Fox's Cunning ... Anyway, the solution is simple - work with your DM to figure out which four buff spells make sense for clerics of a given god based on that gods portfolio and personality. For example, Bull's Strength...

Fixing the Half Orc ('cause they're broken)

Here are the houserules we apply in our campaign for half-orcs: • +2 Strength, –2 Intelligence, –2 Charisma. Replace the Cha penalty with skill specific penalties. • -2 racial penalty on Bluff, Diplomacy, Gather Information and Perform checks: Half-orcs are not readily accepted among any race...

Fixing the Half Orc ('cause they're broken)

Its not just half-orcs that suffer from, IMO, wrongly applied Cha penalty. For example, ever thought about playing a Genasi sorceror who draws their powers from their elemental heritage? Does it make sense that you'll suffer and be a weaker spellcaster because people don't trust you cause...

Fixing the Half Orc ('cause they're broken)

I don't consider Elves the best at all. I rate them behind Dwarves and humans. A Cha penalty may or may not hurt you, but a Con penalty hurts a lot of different classes. Darkvision is better than lowlight, stonecunning is in the same ballpark as auto detection of secret doors, etc. In our...

What's your favorite D&D character sheet?

My current sheet of choice is Mad Irishman's version 2.2, no-psi: http://www.rpgsheets.com/cgi-bin/arcdb.cgi?action=dl&id=2341 I do change the print order though, I like page 1 to be backed by page 3 instead of page 2. Every level, I update my master copy of pages 1 and 3 and then xerox the...

Weapon of Spell Storing - What spells?

Ach! Until I read this thread I though you could toss any of the "roll to hit" type spells in there: Rays of Enfeeblement, Acid Arrows, etc. Wanted to make a Bladesinger/Spellsword who used one of these.

    Dwarven Lumberjack

"The stout dwarf stood, feet firmly rooted to the ground. He spit onto his hands, rubbed them together and took up his axe. He gazed then at the brigands, and said, 'You want to know what I have in my pack? Why don't you come closer then, and have a look.'" Reading Dwarf, Fighter and Ranger...

having a problem with aligment... Can anyone help??

I don't think that really works. The Paladin's god has granted them the ability to detect evil and to smite evil. I'm not really suprised when people playing Paladins put 2 and 2 together and come up "I should smite anyone I detect as evil!" Isn't that what their god has given them the power...

having a problem with aligment... Can anyone help??

Alignments started badly and haven't improved. With Gygax, its like everyone is a part of an extremist faction, including the "True" Neutral's. How else do you explain junk like alignment languages? :\ And more recently we were "gifted" with Faerun's cosmic mafia, "you better worship us, if...
