D&D 5E (2014) Volo's Guide to Monsters - Which monsters do you want to see?

Perhaps, those snake like tentacle arms would allow him to manage several BBQ's at once. Of course, in 2e Mimic innards were a delicacy.

D&D 5E (2014) Volo's Guide to Monsters - Which monsters do you want to see?

I suppose the death kiss, flail snail, Ki-rin, are ok, but does anyone know where the Pit Master originates from? Is that one new to 5e?

D&D 5E (2014) The god of amphibians Wastri?

Google / Wiki? oh that's right, it's gold standard for accuracy and completeness.

Spells that could be improved / better designed

I'm not changing the paradigm, IMO that is 5e's paradigm. My point is that all you need to do to correct these spells is revert them to their AD&D incarnations. 5th edition did just that for many of the spells, but in some cases it seems the designers became a bit too worried about...

D&D 5E (2014) The god of amphibians Wastri?

Anyone know where I can find stats, lore, and or adventures with this god? Given the popularity of frogs right now I thought it would be really fun to pull out the old D&D god of frogs and bigotry.

D&D 5E (2014) Curse of Strahd: Barovia needs about 10x more people

A Ravenloft domain can consist of a single estate if need be. The people within can remain completely oblivious to that fact. IMO, mysterious inconsistencies can make the domain even more terrifying.

Spells that could be improved / better designed

No, I'm asking for spells to return to being normal again. These spells were not issues in previous editions. My advice to the OP is not to worry about overbalance and simply modify them. Look at what previous editions did with those spells and have fun.

Spells that could be improved / better designed

I'm not making any complaints about balance. I actually couldn't care less for the kind of overbalance you subscribe to. I'd just rather see several spells revert to their original form.

Spells that could be improved / better designed

IMO, the level of a spell is also part of tradition. Hold Person is without question a cleric spell. Sure, wizards had Hold Person, but it was rarely memorized because the priest would usually have at least one memorized anyway. No sane wizard would memorize hold person over a fireball /...

D&D 5E (2014) Curse of Strahd: Barovia needs about 10x more people

Yes, in addition the population is maintained by the dark powers. Memories can even be wiped clean by them. Of course, this is the problem with trying to run Ravenloft without first having read a single Ravenloft campaign setting source book.

Spells that could be improved / better designed

No, it would be 4th if it granted immunity. 2nd level for only granting resistance.

Spells that could be improved / better designed

Well, I'd be ok with resistance of 10 because at least some attacks would be completely ignored. On the other hand, I think having fixed points for resistance over complicates the game and makes some creatures vulnerable when they shouldn't be. With that said, I like the simple resistance...

Spells that could be improved / better designed

I totally agree. It got nerfed. Rename it to LeatherSkin and make it second level . It doesn't deserve to be a 4th level spell IMO. I'd just fix it by using the 2e version. It's the best IMO btw, I do recall diamond dust being rather expensive too.

Spells that could be improved / better designed

oh right, pathfinder... lol.. I'm thinking about 2e mostly which granted immunity. Of course, even with 10 resistance most dagger and arrow attacks will be negated completely. Since you're always taking damage in 5e it's just not the same thing at all. opps.... I meant that I wouldn't...

Spells that could be improved / better designed

I really don't think I'd like 5e if the level of the spell didn't dictate how much damage it did. Ice Storm is cold damage which has always done less damage anyway.

Spells that could be improved / better designed

I'd rather stoneskin work as it did in previous editions. It's also a thematic issue for me. I've even recall reading D&D novels in which stoneskin granted immunity for a number of hits.

Spells that could be improved / better designed

There certainly are some spells that are grossly under-powered in 5e for their level. Stoneskin is one that comes to mind. IMO, it doesn't qualify as a 4th level spell anymore.
