D&D General (Anecdotal) conversations with Asian gamers on some problems they currently face in the D&D world of RPG gaming

I'd argue that them being untrustworthy is what makes them worth reading. Their writing directly or indirectly informs various actors or is used to justify actions in the public sphere, which is part of the larger context to anticipate where these concerns may be leading to in the future. To...

D&D General (Anecdotal) conversations with Asian gamers on some problems they currently face in the D&D world of RPG gaming

I'm not intending to dismiss your concerns I'm introducing the fields to point out that rather than worrying over a problem there are fields that explore potential implementable solutions that approach these problems from different angles and worked (or not worked) in the past. Claiming a...

D&D General (Anecdotal) conversations with Asian gamers on some problems they currently face in the D&D world of RPG gaming

Opening a Pandora's Box seems like an inelegant metaphor since as you've admitted this isn't a new problem. We can look to fields like CSR, industrial labor relations, the history of corporations, social impact assessment, and sociology to broaden our own understanding as well as mitigate our...

    Ranking the (Non-Animated) Film Batmans!

Let's be careful not to do a disservice to his role in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang now.

D&D General (Anecdotal) conversations with Asian gamers on some problems they currently face in the D&D world of RPG gaming

Despite my joke about George Orwell having to go through the same process with his own published work I'm sympathetic to your concerns about self-censorship on things that the writers think are necessary for the narrative they want to tell. Especially given the egg on the face of various...

    Black Panther Trailer

I trust Ryan Coogler and his team will do what they think is right with that property if they want to continue and are allowed to do so by Disney. There can be another Black Panther movie if they want there to be one, but there can't be another Chadwick Boseman.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragon+ Issue 33 out now!

I have access to the Orcs of Eberron and not Orcs of Exandria on DDB so that's good to know. Since they have different lore that seems to entirely make sense as an approach. If they had a combined Orcs page with partially locked content I would personally find that frustrating and unintuitive.

D&D General (Anecdotal) conversations with Asian gamers on some problems they currently face in the D&D world of RPG gaming

Sure, but we're talking about internal editorial practices by a publisher. They're deciding to do this themselves to appeal to their intended market and not being forced to do so by an external government force. Pressure by industry associations like the Comics Code Authority and the Hayes Code...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragon+ Issue 33 out now!

Are the Orc of Eberron and Orc of Exandria entries separated because they have campaign-specific lore associated with each page?

    Where's the American Fantasy RPG?

To be fair I don't think any of the people I know who ever liked Orson Scott Card before his views became known liked him for Alvin Maker—it was all for the Ender and Bean books.

Justice League: The Snyder Cut - Official Trailer

So that would make Justice League the bizarro The Royal Tennenbaums? I can see it.

D&D General For the Love of Greyhawk: Why People Still Fight to Preserve Greyhawk

Okay, now this is another hook I find really interesting. And seemingly a compelling reason for people to be interested in playing non-humans in the setting.

D&D General For the Love of Greyhawk: Why People Still Fight to Preserve Greyhawk

I've seen The Witcher TV show called Sword & Sorcery.

    The Batman Trailer

If you're pulling from the Sean Kelly Twitter thread I think you are then his ideas there sound like a really compelling seed for a story—especially Joe Chill as dirty cop.

D&D General For the Love of Greyhawk: Why People Still Fight to Preserve Greyhawk

The more people talk about Gygax the more he sounds like the Stan Lee of D&D who didn't stay in the public consciousness by making movie cameos.

D&D General Graz'zt, the spawn of Pale Night.... and Nyarlathotep?

It comes up in the Demonomicon of Iggwilv article on Graz'zt as a possible origin that Graz'zt is the son of Pale Night and Asmodeus/Loki/Set/a baernaloth/a cosmic entity of a thousand names and crawling chaos (sounds like Nyarlathotep!). "The exact nature of the entity that Pale Night ensnared...

    D&D 5E (2014) The New D&D Book: Tasha's Cauldron of Everything!

Probably besides the point here, but a LoZ book seems trivially easy given how generically heroic fantasy Hyrule is across different games.

D&D General For the Love of Greyhawk: Why People Still Fight to Preserve Greyhawk

The pattern for setting books seem to be having content that can be ported to people's games regardless of if they choose to run the setting. Greyhawk already seems to have been stripped for parts and put into baseline D&D—most of what I knew about Greyhawk came from NPC's like Iggwilv and Vecna...

D&D 5E (2014) Iggwilv/Tasha To Join Volo, Xanathar, and Mordenkainen? [UPDATED!]

I totally think they should strip Manifest for parts and have a section in a book on how to keep playing after character death.
