For the record, I have 55 xp right now, but am still a Flumph.

    Is Wotc Slipping?

It shouldn't be that surprising - at least, I'm not surprised by it. I was talking to the owner of our FLGS and she said that 4ed sales has 'tanked' (her words, not mine), while Pathfinder was still a steady seller. While you can only speculate at the reasons, mine would be that WotC are...

    Operation: Power Level Gary

Yay, finally gave another xp to the colonel! He's getting close to overhauling Morrus on the list. And so to start again...

Jim Roslof, old school TSR artist

Shame :( It's rather sad to see many of those old time gamers who brought us the early iterations of D&D passing away. It's a loss to the game, IMO, no matter what you play or what your preferences are.

    Dungeon Master’s Keep - $150 GM Screen?

It's not for me, either. I wouldn't even pick it up if it was $20! I've used the same screen now since around the time 3.5 came out (when was that - 2003?) and it's served me just fine. It's a bit creased and battered now, but it's still pretty solid and does it's job without taking up too...

The artwork to some of those covers is really evocative of when I first started playing the game. Sad news indeed :(

    Operation: Power Level Gary

Hey guys, if you're looking to spread a little xp love, then why not go and donate some to Eric Noah. Here's a post Eric Noah is the EN in EN World. He started this site way back when, but is only a lowly lvl 4 flumph! So if you're looking for someone worthy of a little xp, then I can't...

    Operation: Power Level Gary

Jeez, how much xp do you have to give exactly before you can give someone another? I've been spreading it about but I still haven't done enough to give another xp to the col! Obviously I'm not working at it hard enough!

COLOSSAL RED DRAGON for sale on EBAY.

$182.50 seems a pretty good price to me. Well done :) Mark me down as another who has never used it. I did take it out of its box, just to have a look, but I don't recall doing so again.

    [March] What are you reading?

I just finished readind Bag of Bones by Stephen King. I enjoyed the novel, though thought the end was something of a let down. Onto The Orchard Keeper by Cormac McCarthy.

    [March] What are you reading?

I am currently reading Stephen King's Bag of Bones. About a third of the way through, I guess.

[3.5] Using the Hide skill to "hide" your tent. Avoided Assassin... Legitimate?

Personally, I'd have used Survival to make this check, as it seems a more appropriate skill check (to me), but otherwise trying to hide something seems a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

    February: What are you reading?

Just finished reading Iain Banks' Espedair Street. Nothing much to say about it realy. The writing style and quirky characters kept you turning the pages, but the plot was pretty weak and the ending pretty poor. Wasn't really sure what the point of it was once I'd finished!

    Do You Use XP

I do xp by the rules. I have no problems with the idea of doing ad-hoc awards or just levelling when needed, but the players just seem to prefer the xp method. It's like crack. They just can't seem to get enough!

What is the best computer game you have ever played?

Thanks for the info, guys. I'll probably just look to get the Diamond version and be done with it.

    For the Love of Minis

I've always used minis, from 1ed back in the eighties through to now. They've always added something to my games. The battlemat isn't something that got added until 3ed and I think it's this that a lot of old-timers don't like, due to the more tactical element it introduces. Personally, I...

Looking for inspirational material for a viking campaing

There's always the Vikings RPG from The Le Games. It's 3.5, but there's a lot of excellent fluff there and you could always strip out the mechanics. There's also Vikings - Midgard from Secular Games, also for 3.5. From what I remember of the two (and it's been a while since I looked!) the...

    February: What are you reading?

Richard Matheson's Hell House  Although it still largely relies on the same psychological tension that you'll find in I am Legend and The Shrinking Man, the horror aspect is a lot more obvious. Unlike those other two books, which are far most focused on a solitary individual, Hell House...
