    Balanced Race? Judge the 'Perfects'

As I said, I plan on using die rolls instead of point buy. I don't think placing restrictions on mechanics is a good way of balancing them though (why would this race work different from every other race?). The flavor is that they were designed to be 'super-soldiers'. While over time the Con...

    Balanced Race? Judge the 'Perfects'

Ah, I plan on allowing rolling 4d6 6 times or an array. I don't like point buy as I think the characters tend to have too many cookie cutter even stats (and this is after making quite a few point buy characters myself). With an array, you can still create a range of characters and I think the...

    Balanced Race? Judge the 'Perfects'

Right, it was exaggeration. If there are 100 human soldiers in a field of battle with 10 perfects in the group, odds are the perfects will live more often than the humans. That is what I meant by better at 'everything' (saving throws, AC, attacks, hit points (considerably at 1st level), skill...

    Balanced Race? Judge the 'Perfects'

Changing the rule as you stated doesn't prevent abuse, it just inhibits the flavor of the class. They are made 'perfect', which just means better than humans, at everything. The wizard probably won't care that he only gets to raise dex, int, and con but raising the other 3 stats that won't come...

    Balanced Race? Judge the 'Perfects'

But point buy allows more flexibility. With more point buy, you can have a higher stat, or try and max 2 stats (like a wizard pumping his Int and Con, to the detriment of the rest of his scores). With a flat +2 bonus to all stats, most of your 'points' are going to waste. The absence of +1...

    Balanced Race? Judge the 'Perfects'

The Perfects The Perfects were magically engineered from human stock during great wars long ago. They were stronger, faster, tougher, smarter, more perceptive, and more strong-willed than a regular human. While at first Perfect Soldiers and Magic-Users died at a similar rate to humans, over...

    Spellcasting Class Ability Modifier

My proposal is to allow each character to pick his spellcasting attribute, with the caveat that it must be a 'mental' attribute (Int, Wis, or Cha). This means you can play an Intelligence-based Cleric, a Charisma-based Wizard, or a Wisdom-based Sorcerer (or other variations). 1. What balance...

Looking for Opinions on New Psion Power

I would increase the manifesting time, otherwise it looks ok. It should take more than 6 seconds to wipe someone's brain you know? :) Casting Time: 1 hour (or 30 minutes if you're feeling nice)

    SAGA: Too few force points?

Low-level characters get 5-8 and level up quickly. Mid-level characters get 7-10 and level up moderately fast. High level characters get 10+ and level up slowly. I think they are a neat resource, making them more abundant (presumably to help the jedi) weakens the other classes.

    [SWSE] Fiddling

That seems like a reasonable option, starting with the jedi class and working backwards I'm sure you could come up with something: -More Class Skills -Start with Martial Arts I -Unique talent trees -Same BAB, Defenses, and HP Of course, I don't see why there would be martial artists in a Star...

    [SWSE] Fiddling

I thought the whole point of this edition was that skills were easy. Why does your Soldier want to Tumble? I mean, if you are taking the Soldier class, presumably you are playing a character interested in using some of the class features of the Soldier class (like Medium Armor or Rifles). If...

Star Wars Saga, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Couldn't you just forget everything you know about Epic rules and add a 21st level? I mean, looking at the book, we see that 18th level requires 153,000 XP, 19th 171,000 (difference is 18,000), and 20th requires 190,000 (difference is 19,000). So, we say that 21st level requires 210,000 XP...

[d20 Modern] Brawl and Combat Martial Arts?

Hi, just need some clarification on how unarmed combat is supposed to work in d20 modern. This is how I think it works: Unarmed: 1d3+str, provokes AoO, nonlethal Unarmed with Brawl: +1 to hit, 1d6+str, provokes AoO, nonlethal Unarmed with Combat Martial Arts: 1d4+str, does not provoke AoO...

    Rate this Race!

I just don't see the point. Maybe the fact that I began playing with 1e and 2e, where 18/00 strength represented the maximum human potential was ingrained in my head is the reason. Or maybe I don't think ANY race should have have +4 in ANYTHING if they are LA +0 and it's just a personal bias...

Every time I read a +4 str race with +0 LA, I just shake my head.

    What alignment is House?

The funny thing about trying to give someone's alignment from a TV show or whatever is that they aren't real people - they are just characters. Of course, so are D&D characters, but consistency is the key to alignments (and even then they are sticky). I've known people who I consider Chaotic to...

    D&D Tactics Sounds Good!

http://www.gamespot.com/psp/strategy/dungeonsdragonstactics/news.html?sid=6170297&tag=gumballs;img;1 Coming for the PSP, lets you create 6 characters and seems to adhere to 3e rules pretty well. And it has Psions and Psychic Warriors as character options!

    Soulknife as a PrC (1.0)

Hey Nicholas! The real problem with the soulknife base class is the BAB. If you take 2 levels of fighter, at level 20 you still have 2 BAB, 2 bonus feats, and a decent fort save. If you dip into 2 levels of Soulknife you get 1 BAB, a few bonus feats, all related to your mindblade (WF Mind...
