    Dropping Alignment Requirements for Paladins

    Aren't evil paladins called Blackguards?

Stand alone City:::looking for interested contributers

Wiki? I like this idea a lot, but coordinating so many people, with so many ideas, into such a large work is difficult. I've been brainstorming lately about creating a collaborative D&D wiki. Imagine something like Wikipedia, but for a D&D campaign setting. It would encompass cities, NPCs, new...

    A modest proposal

Formalized definition of D&D rules? I've been brainstorming about writing a formalized definition of the D&D's notoriously complicated and ad-hoc rules. I'm not imagining a AI program to play D&D, but more of a "rules lawyer/oracle" expert system that humans can query. Message boards like EN...

    Action Points....REVERSED?!

Exactly. These reverse action points are called Base Attack Bonus! :)

    "Puma Burglar" prestige class

Thanks, your suggestions are very helpful. I agree that PrC might be most appropriate. I was torn trying to make the class not too rogue-ish or require rogue levels as a prerequisite. I was trying to imagine a PrC that might interest even barbarians or rangers who wanted to get a little rogue-ish.

    "Puma Burglar" prestige class

Here is a rough draft of a new class I've been developing. It's sort of a wild, supernatural burglar. I'm not sure whether this class would be most appropriate as a base class or prestige class..? Also, does this class seem unbalanced, possibly too gifted? chris -- B]Puma Burgular[/B] The...

post-game to collaboratively create a new spell: Ray of Idio-Savancy

For now, I think this might be a 7th level cleric spell. The rest of the spell looks pretty complete and consistent (though definitely odd). Does anyone see balance problems? Can you imagine any willing subjects for this spell? :)

What is an appropriate Cleric spell level for this crazy spell?

post-game to collaboratively create a new spell: Ray of Idio-Savancy

What do you think would be an appropriate DC for these Will Saves? The usual DC 10 + spell level + caster level? Does a willing subject have a different DC than an unwilling subject? Are there any other spells that differentiate DCs for willing and unwilling subjects?

post-game to collaboratively create a new spell: Ray of Idio-Savancy

How about a simpler but random result: subject receives +d4 Int bonus, but -d6 Wis penalty? I'm imagining this as an "idiot-savant ray" or "neurosurgical ray". :)

post-game to collaboratively create a new spell: Ray of Idio-Savancy

I added a second descriptor: Chaotic. Messing with your brain structure seems much more chaotic than lawful. Does anyone disagree? Descriptors: [Chaotic, Mind-Affecting]

post-game to collaboratively create a new spell: Ray of Idio-Savancy

Jack: I paraphrased your description using SRD phrasing as a template. Some of the other Int, Wis, and Cha buffing spells state that the subject will not gain any additional bonus spells. Do you think this spell should not grant any additional bonus spells? That might be one way to balance this...

post-game to collaboratively create a new spell: Ray of Idio-Savancy

Definitely. For a permanent mental buff, there must be some big cost and/or penalty (to the caster and/or target)!

post-game to collaboratively create a new spell: Ray of Idio-Savancy

What would it mean for a spell to have "All Domains"? Do any existing spells have All Domains?

post-game to collaboratively create a new spell: Ray of Idio-Savancy

Descriptor(s): [Mind-Affecting] (and any other descriptors?) To make this permanent, lengthy spell with a (presumably) willing subject even more curious, let's make it mind-affecting! This emerging spell seems to be some type of big-time mental buffing spell..?? This sorta makes sense...

post-game to collaboratively create a new spell: Ray of Idio-Savancy

This just occurred to me: maybe instead of declaring this spell arcane or divine, we should list which classes can cast it. I assume you would like clerics to be able to cast this spell, but what about bards and druids or Sor/Wzd? We can debate the spell level for each class later, once we learn...

post-game to collaboratively create a new spell: Ray of Idio-Savancy

Effect: Ray (because I think a ray with a casting time of 10 minutes is kinda funny) :)

Good point. I figured the description would fall out of the spell attributes.

post-game to collaboratively create a new spell: Ray of Idio-Savancy

After participating in the create-a-character and create-a-monster post-game threads, I thought it would be fun to collaboratively create a new spell. I had hoped to create a thread with multiple polls, one for each spell attribute, but apparently the enworld forums don't support this. Each...
