D&D 5E (2014) yes, this again: Fighters need more non-combat options

Or the player could just roleplay instead of treating it like a video game. This version of D&D gives a fighter many more options for non-combat opportunities than previous versions (1e/2e/3e) that I have played. I have literally never seen or myself had a problem with fighters in non-combat...

    Spring's D&D Release Will Be Ship-Themed

There is nothing political or racial here. You are the one making it weird. Also pal, I am not your bud.

    Spring's D&D Release Will Be Ship-Themed

Nope, it has never happened in history -- not even once. If you believe Venezuela was doing great before Maduro then your definition of great must have a really, really low bar. But if you are in love with Venezuela pick Cuba or North Korea instead as examples. Or African examples such as...

    Spring's D&D Release Will Be Ship-Themed

I would prefer a bit more verisimilitude in my fantasy. Wakanda cannot exist for basic economic reasons -- an isolationist country with an autocratic government and a rare resource. That country exist in the real world -- Venezuela.

    Spring's D&D Release Will Be Ship-Themed

In the Forgotten Realms there are cannons. If cannons are present, they typically will outrange low level mages. Without cannons, boarding actions would be more common, so not that much different than land actions. Just some extra complications. Other RPGs make this work (like Star Finder)...

They should definitely go with the fourth cover. :)

    Most frustrating quirk of 5E?

It should be call "Table Master" and it was the most complicated and ridiculous RPG ever created. It started out as "Arms Law", "Spell Law", "Claw Law". It used a %dice system and literally every roll had to be looked up on a table. Crits and Fumbles were common in the system and created the...

D&D 5E (2014) How exactly does the Feywild time warp work? (Can it be used for going back in time?)

This is like the question as to how fast the Enterprise can travel. Answer: The Speed of Plot. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TravelingAtTheSpeedOfPlot

    Balancing out Racial Abilities

All the chart shows is what you think of the balance. You still haven't addressed the basic question. Is one race dominating play so much more than the others? If you are only playing arena battles then setting doesn't matter. To put this another way, most of what you are trying to balance...

    Balancing out Racial Abilities

I am not clear on what you think balance is. It seems to be just a personal prejudice in this case. The best way to determine balance is by seeing what races are the most and least played. In your game you pointed out that gnomes and halflings the players show no interest in. QED, these are...

How to add more sorcery points?

To me it is just the opposite. Building interesting social encounters is far more work than combat encounters. Most of my time building a combat encounter is just drawing the map and adding interesting details so player can make use of the environment. Running them can be time consuming...

General question using MS Paint or similar (free) program for Dungeon Mapping

There isn't much of a learn curve if all you want to do is present maps. If you want to use it for rolls and character sheets there is a small amount of learning needed. For me, the trickiest part is keeping track of which layer I am presenting during play.

How to add more sorcery points?

It is not just the books, it is the published modules, it is gaming conventions, etc., etc. I have played with plenty of groups in which combat is a small part of the at table experience -- just not with D&D. The reason is that most of the features that define a class are combat focused --...

How to add more sorcery points?

For few people. It might work for your group, but IME (playing since 1979), yours is a rare exception then. Yes, combat is only a portion of the game, but it is a significant portion of the game as most of the rules in the book are preoccupied with it. If combat is such a minor portion of...

[Homebrew]Differentiating classes for the Social Pillar

Also, instead of using class, I think background would be far more appropriate. For example, a Barbarian with a Noble background would be at odds with your system. However, works fine in the normal system.

How to add more sorcery points?

It think there might be a misunderstanding about balance here. Balance in a RPG is more about perception. If one character can easily handle all of the challenges or dominates one aspect of the game, then it is unbalanced. So if you are making powering up the sorcerer, how will you balance...

How to add more sorcery points?

Or instead of scolding someone, maybe you should reevaluate what you wrote and see how it could be misunderstood. Strunk and White is your friend. ;)

How to add more sorcery points?

It is unclear what you are trying to accomplish in general here. "Distinguish it more from wizards" is vague at best. What problem are you trying to solve? Giving more sorcery points means making the class more powerful than they currently are. Giving more metamagic also makes them more...

General question using MS Paint or similar (free) program for Dungeon Mapping

Or you can do this much easier with Roll20. You can import the maps and then just use the fog of war feature to reveal the maps as you go. You can run two instances of Chrome (one in Incognito mode) to show to your players if you wanted to use the GM layer to keep track of hidden stuff.
