Right. Except for the no PDFs, no digital tools, no OGL, and no adventurer's league home play. :mad: If I didn't know better, I'd say they're going out of their way to make their game a PITA to play. But yeah, great hands.

I wish U.S. laws were clearer on the matter. I own the 5E PHB and MM in hardback, but sadly legal PDFs aren't available, and so my purchases stopped there. I also own Pathfinder in hardback, PDF, and as a Hero Lab data set. Choice is a wonderful thing. :)

Yeah, I don't do illegal files, and frankly I'm unwilling to rip apart a book and do the work of scanning it...only to end up with an inferior product. I still hope that WotC will wise up and sell 5E in a modern format, but I suspect their window of opportunity is closing.

Isn't calling a book one hasn't even seen a failure a bit premature? Heaven knows I have my issues with WotC, but so far the content of 5E isn't one of them. Both the PHB and the MM exceeded my expectations, and I see no reason to believe the DMG would be any different.

I am surprised - and very pleased - to learn that the OGL may be making a come-back. Not something "like" the OGL, mind you, but the OGL. Maybe they learned something from the implosion of 4E after all. I want to believe...but for me at least, it's wait and see.
