See, I don't think so. And, indeed, neither do a lot of other people. There are definite established archetypes for mainstream fantasy - demihumans, magic, dragons, psuedo-medieval/feudal governemntal systems etc. Spaceships are pretty much the only constant in sci-fi, and not even then.

But it's barely sci-fi, even using the definition Jamie uses in the quote above! That is, of course, the problem. What type of sci-fi would this hypothetical RPG be? Hard? Sci-Fantasy? The problem with sci-fi is that everyone wants different things from it.

I do wish there was something that clearly dominated the sci-fi game market, with an established set of norms. It would really stregthen the genre as a gaming sphere.

Overe here on RPG.net, Jamie Chambers talks very briefly about the Firefly/Serenity RPG that we suspected was in the works after a call fro playtesters last year. I wonder what system it'll be for?

Um... good cash and a cool system? Plus They're probably not dealing with GW. They're dealing with BI, who deal with GW. Nah, the RoC books were pretty early stuff. The first has WFRP stuff, the second didn't so much.

I think what Gary is saying is that all of the classes were a combination of a range of factors - taking the cool stuff from everywhere, and sticking it in to the game. I mean Tuck didn't notably cast spells either did he?

I don't know if there's one or not. I never go there cos I pretty much always read good reviews for genre movies there regardless of whether or not the actual movie is any good or not. But just for you I looked... and couldn't see one.

Well reviews are a bit mixed right now. This one liked it a lot, but this one, which has been slashdotted and can't be read hated it completely. THere's a slashdot discussion I couldn't be bothered reading here. Anyone got a link to a mirror or cache of the one that hated it?

Being based in the UK is a big reason for the pricing. It makes a huge difference.
